Hey all, my D got rejected from the University of Michigan via email, but then an hour later received an email from their Head of Performance asking for her number to call her some time next week (he said he wanted to wait till next week to have his notes with him.) Can anyone shed some light on what’s going on here?
Could it have something to do with grades/test scores? Michigan is pretty strict about that and if they weren’t quite up to par but she had a great audition, maybe they want her to know? I have heard other schools say that sometimes they have to go to bat for kids they love, but lose to academic admissions in the end. (Not assuming your D has iffy grades, just offering up a scenario.)
@JohnsonFam and @momof2lefties Sounds like you two have exactly the opposite problem, but FWIW, I agree that it probably has to do with the academic admit. If you PM me I can tell you my friend’s son story about UMich STAMPS. He is IN and with lots of money but it was an uphill climb for a really stupid 3 quarter “C” in math (his first ever and something he quickly rectified but it took about 2 months to sort out)
@JohnsonFam I am sending good vibes your way! I hope it is either good news or helpful information. Getting feedback after auditions would be amazingly helpful and so important to our kids growth.
@JohnsonFam what happened? Did your daughter talk to him?
@JohnsonFam - we are really interested to know what happened with that follow up call? Can you tell us?
