Unfortunatley, i got rejected from SD- never wanted to go there but i was hoping if i got in it would ensure a shot at LA....and i screwed now?

no. each school has its own admissions standards that it looks for. ucsd's and ucla's are different. also, the level of difficulty between getting into ucsd and ucla are not extremely different. hopefully you have some subjective factors that can help you for ucla, as academically the standards are higher for ucla.

well thanks...to be honest i thought i DEFINTIELY had a clinch on SD...i am shocked....im assuming im fcked for LA but im praying not...

sharptooth23: Would you mind posting stats?

Don't worry too much, I know a girl who got into LA, but not SD. It was kinda of unfortunate because SD was her #1 choice.

3.33, 3.83, 4.0, 4.5---huge upward trend for 10-11===> ~3.92 overall

2060, 700ush, 680bioe on sat IIs,

Honors, high Honors, Varsity letters, JSA leadership Award, AP scholar

8 APS, 4 Honors
4 yrs varsity tennis, 4 yrs JSA ( Leadership officer 3 years), 3 Yrs Newspaper publication ( Financial manager), 4 Yrs FBLA, 2 yrs guitar/ drums,
2 Summer Internships at Investment firms, Community Service, Exchange Program to Switzerland, may be some things i forgot...

In my opinion great essays

damn...

It's not the 3.92 overall that counts, it's the 3.83 and 4.0 from Sophomore and Junior years that counts, with a 4 AP class extra point cap. I think it's really odd that you got rejected from UCSD, but that certainly shouldn't exclude you from a chance at UCLA. If you look in the "Chance Me" thread that UCLAri made, a lot of people with very similar stats are considered "match" or "slight slight reach".

Hey Dustyb, can you post stats for that girl that got into LA, because i am the same boat. I really want LA but i got rejected from SD.

goddamn this sucks

How about me?

OOS

Severe challenge during my junior year, and I had to drop all my AP and honor courses for the remainder of first semester and could only resume my Honors courses after chemotherapy treatement. One week after chemo, I returned to school and achieved a 4.5 Weighted and 4.0 overall. and this year, senior year, i am at a 3.8 GPA and 4.8 W GPA for this past semester(mid year grades). I am the President of a club I started who's goal is to raise money to fund for the cures of childhood cancer. Was in the advanced choir for two years, drama for two years, numerous club, numerous community involvement events, etc. Great essays. Very deep and strong to the point.

Let me know.

SATs- 1910

3.7...3.92...4.0...4.5=4.1

haha don't hate me for saying this, but an extremely vindicative part of me is feeling much better about myself after reading your stats.. I honestly don't understand how UCSD would reject somebody like you...
that just goes to show how damn subjective the admissions process is.

Anyone else?

Im so upset and can't help feeling this means im fcked for UCLA

Yea i have the same exact feeling.

i hope we're wrong...maybe wishful thinking but one can hope they rejected us cuz they think we WILL go to LA or something...

Can ANYONE confirm A/ NO correlation between these?

haha yea, probally not tho.

UCSD grants admission based on numerical points. Being rejected from UCSD would likely, but not completely translate to no chance at UCLA.

This just means your chances at UCLA are < 50%.

haha i already knew MY chances were about less than 50%. :D

it's a crapshoot, i tell ya.

dawn,

what are you saying? be more clear, LOL.

well i got into sd...

im praying i get into la though
