I'm personally not very fond of the UCSD admissions process because they use the point system. However, UCLA is using the hostilic admissions process this year, so they see each person as a whole person, rather than a number of points to add up. I'm going to get rejected, but this may give some of you hope =). Good luck.

Could you appeal? That could be a way to show them you really do want to go to UCSD, if they rejected you because UCSD thought it was being treated like a safety school.

Damn...so incredibly upsetting...correlation or not, its very upsetting guys/girls...anyone think LA will be out this weekend/ tonight/tommorow?

I love hollistic. I got into UW with the hollistic scale, and I have a major challenge that happended at the worst time in any prosperous high school students' career(JUNIOR YEAR; HAD TO DROP MY 3 AP COURSES, :(, AND MY WEIGHTED GPA IS NOW ABOUT A 4.1 UC GPA).

OOS

Hopefully you make it Bruinsjew, I hope to as well...

If anything is going to get you rejected BRUINSJEW, it's the OOS status. Your application would otherwise be a pretty competitive one. The holistic grading is only meant to be to your advantage (and the advantage of URMs), and is a significant contrast to the SD point system.

I wouldn't hold my breath for LA to come out this weekend, although the 25th seems like a magic number. We're all in the last leg of the race, but what we say and do now won't impact the decision that was probably made a week prior.

you're right peppers, I feel like itll be before the 25th too... praying

i got into ucla and use for the same major but a rejection from ucsd

I know someone who got rejected from SD last year and got into LA. She had about the same stats as you, with a slightly lower gpa. She currently goes to UCLA. :]

the same stats as me?

gpine, iceboxx, you guys give me hope

Which person iceboxx? me or sharptooth23?

either way Bruinsjew, we know some poeple got in last yr without geting into sd, and even gpine this year....so we have some hope even if it is a shimmer

BruinsJEW, you got into UWashington but not SD?! ***..

Are you confusing UW with Washington University at St. Louis? UW has an acceptance rate of 68%, UCSD has an acceptance rate of 42% oO;;

Anyone hoping for decisions tommorrow? I was told UCLA usually releases them on saturday by Boelterhall

wait, is UCLA really grading hollistically this year? can anyone confirm this?

Peppers.. ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I hate myself, I ALWAYS confuse the two. Sorry!

well if UCLA is indeed releasing decisions on saturday.. hell i'm going to stay up as long as it takes tonight :)

yes UCLA does do it holistically. A UCLA rep announced it at my school. Although since its UCLA's first time using it, we dont know how much this holistic admission will help applicants (i.e. we dont know emphasis on exc, essays, special circumstances).
