So I just received my rejection email a few days ago and was finally able to reach UCI's admissions office to ask... why did I get rejected even though I've satisfied all TAG reqs.
They didn't tell me much but they said "I can't discuss it over the phone, if you could come over to the UCI admissions office, we can talk about it." The only thing I can see that might be a problem is that I TAG'ed for East Asian Culture but put my secondary major as Engineering (so they think I'm TAG-ing just to get an easy admissions then switch to Engineering?) But the fact is I want to major in EAC and was just putting Engineering because I wanted to explore it a little...

Anyone ever encounter a situation like this? Any hints as to what I might expect when I drive all the way up to Irvine and discuss the rejection? Also, if it's this ambiguous, is there a chance I can somehow convince them to accept me when I actually visit? Thanks...

Run, not walk down there. It’s too easy to say no over the phone.

There is, or should be. If you filled out a TAG contract and satisfied it then there should be no wiggle room on their part. If there’s something going on and they won’t tell you over the phone then definitely drive down and find out what it is!

You could look at the TAG matrix at <a href=“University of California Counselors”>University of California Counselors; to make sure you satisfied all the requirements Irvine lists.

Also I suggest you go see the xfer counseling center at your CC. They definitely should be helping you out with this.

i heard you shouldnt, at all, what so ever, put any other major than the one you tag’d for.

That’s what I’m afraid of, transferconguy. I mean… the TAG agreement is “I will get into this major so long as I satisfy all the requirements that TAG major requires.” I’ve finished all them… from a by-the-book strict rule-follower, I would expect they say “YES, WELCOME!” with open arms! I mean… come on, i have a 3.77 majoring in East Asian Culture, how can I not get in… D:

Anyways, I’m going to drive up to Irvine tomorrow to see if I can get it sorted out… Thanks for the answers guys ^^
