TAG received but not accepted?

So I applied to UC Irvine with TAG and everything went smooth until last week. I got rejected and called; initially they said "We can't disclose this information over the phone, please come to our office." So I planned to head over to the office today but wanted to call once before to make sure that I wouldn't need to wait if I got there around lunch. The same girl picked up again and we chatted a bit about how I could go and try and resolve my problem. One thing led to another and apparently my UC Irvine TAG wasn't even accepted. It was "received" and put into their TAG list, but it was never accepted, so I was one of the thousands of NORMAL applicants, although I worked my butt off for two years JUST so I could be eligible for TAG.

East Asian Culture Major

All requirements for major DONE.

Anyone have any insight as to how UC Irvine failed to satisfy one of the only things CC kids have a confidence chance at?

I posted this before but did you have 30 community college units completed by September of 2012?

Were you also in good standing at UCSC when you applied for other UCs?

How do you check if you are in good standing at UCSC? I had a pretty low GPA when I left.

Yes, I did have 30 units by September 2012.

An unofficial transcript will say if you were in good standing or not. I think you can be put into that category if you had less than a 2.0 and outstanding payments.

30 community college units completed correct? Not UC

Yes, 30 CC units completed. Let me check if my UCSC transcript stated so.

Son of a… I was on academic probation the last quarter I was there… Was there no way for me to clear that prior to applying for transfer from CC to UCI? I had a 1.9 GPA at the last term…

But my friend tells me, because I’ve been at CC for more than 12 months, that “not good standing” should’ve been nulled?

I mean, how would I have been able to fix or erase my academic probation if I wasn’t even attending school there anymore?

I think it would have been fine if you transferred to a CSU. UCs will not accept you if you are not in good standing at one of them. It’s universal to all UCs.

Thanks for the insight :\ I actually had no idea I was on academic probation, I thought I ended the term with a 2.3 but that was actually the overall GPA of the 3-quarter term. I’m going to go discuss with my CC counselor then try to meet with a UCI counselor tomorrow and see how I should go about trying to resolve this/appeal. I guess the most reasonable thing is to file for a Academic Renewal for my last semester at UCSC, appeal and state all the things that have changed since I applied, etc? Thanks for the help.
