Rejected from Yale--need help from y'all :(

I have a 2200 SAT I and 800 on US History, 790 on World, and 650 on Literature. Sadly, I retook literature, was stupid and didn't review (plus went to a party the night before) and got a 640, which got sent by mistake. Will colleges see that 640?

I think my literature score could have hurt me, and also that I could use some more breadth with my SAT II's.

Can you guys suggest some more SAT II's that I can do well in? I am applying to:

UNC
Duke
Harvard
Wash. U.
Georgetown
Columbia
U. Penn.
Princeton
Dartmouth
Cornell
Emory
Johns Hopkins

Thanks all!

Can I ask you what are your safeties?

You haven't given us more than your test scores so it is hard to evaluate your chances at all the other schools on your very top heavy list but my take is that your list is very unbalanced

I know this may sound crazy to you, but it has happened in the past and has been documented on CC more than once where people with lists likes yours got no admits. Unless you are instate in North Carolina you cannot count on that and I don't see any other school that I would consider as a safety school in the bunch

All the schools on your list are basically the same and will look at admissions just as Yale did. Wash U and Emory will look at demonstrated interest (have you visited both schools and do you stay in touch with their admissions reps) and unless something has changed in the last year or two, Wash U is also NOT need blind. If you are applying for FA it could impact your chances in RD for them especially when you consider that their pool actually gets stronger in RD-they are all about yield and historically their ED admits do not have as strong of a profile as their RD admits.

I would suggest adding a few safeties and true matches before adding SAT IIs that you might do well in.

Yes, CB currently sends ALL your SAT scores - both the SAT I and all the Subject tests. Score choice doesn't start until next year.

Helicio--Yale only counts your top two SAT II scores even though they see all scores, so that isn't what hurt your applicatin there.

Absolutely agree that you need matches and safeties unles UNC is a sure thing as an in-state applicant. Applying to all the most competitive colleges in the hopes that one sticks is poor strategy.

I am instate and have already recieved a likely letter from UNC. They called my counseler and said that I am in, and I think I may be recieving the Robertson Scholarship from UNC, which is aweseome and blunted the Yale news!

Other stats:

2nd in class
4.0 GPA
Presidential Service Scholar
National Merit Scholar
US History Award for Outstanding Proficiency--Woodmen of the World
Model UN Delegate
Rotary Student of the Month

Countless other stuff--no worries, I have reviewed my list countless times. Once my counselor told me that I was in, I decided to try some heavier schools.

Thanks.

Congratulations on the UNC admit and possible Robertson news. My S turned down his Yale SCEA admit in 2004 to accept the Morehead. There were six others in his Morehead class that turned down Yale as well, plus several from H,Y and P plus a double Stanford legacy. They all really loved their UNC/Morehead experience.

His best friend and roommate was a Robertson; if I can help shed any light on anything related to UNC please let me know. I can also direct you to a former CC poster whose D is now a senior Robertson and also instate who turned down Duke and several Ivies to accept the Robertson.

Thanks! The Robertson to UNC or Duke would both be amazing, and either way I would be studying at great schools (get to study at both!).

Thanks man, and I have any questions I'll contact you,
