post stats here if you have been either rejected or waitlisted from GW...i'll post when i know for sure, but seeing as that i have yet to hear...im pretty sure its NOT an acceptance

Rejected SAT 1320, w GPA 4.0
Not really a problem, other than a blow to my ego. I'll be happy, and have more money in my pocket, at my state school.

i live in connecticut...i wonder when ill get my letter? when did you get yours and where do you live?

Decision: Waitlisted (surprised, thought rejection for sure)

why you think you were accepted/rejected/waitlisted: waitlisted because my gpa does not reflect my scores

Other Factors:

I live in NY state - postedmarked the 31st.

any letters today? Our mail hasn't come.

D waitlisted today (Monday) GW is her first choice so she will remain on list and hope lots of others turn them down. Good luck to all others waiting for news. SAT I 1470, GPA W 3.5 SAT IIs 710, 660, 600 APs only 1 4.

I was rejected--this school is such a joke.

"I was rejected--this school is such a joke."

How mature of you. You get rejected, so now the school is a joke.

Sorry but I think any school that uses stupid techniques to improve their rankings is a joke. No big deal though, I couldn't care less...in fact, I want to frame my rejection letter because it gives me such a good laugh every time I look at it.

"Sorry but I think any school that uses stupid techniques to improve their rankings is a joke."

Yield isn't apart of US news rankings anymore, so maybe GW just rejected you because you weren't qualified. I'm not trying to be mean, but it's quite arrogant of you to assume that you were rejected because you're too good for GW.

I don't mean to seem arrogant, but I think it's safe to say I'm qualified as I have been accepted to several top institutions. Obviously, you love GW, and that's fine. However, I wouldn't have expected this from them.

I'm sorry about your rejection. I really am. I just think that you should understand that GW is a selective school and they have to choose a freshman class by rejecting people. Just move on and go to whatever ivy. Good luck.

ms.thang, shame on you. Its not very polite to come on a board and bash the school. We all know you're stinging a bit from the rejection, and that's perfectly natural. EVERY school rejects qualified applicants. But you said you got in some great schools, and just focus on that. No need to start a squabble on this board, or to diss those who are truly excited to attend GW. I sincerely wish you luck wherever you end up.

the fact that you need to take base attacks on a highly competitive school discerns your ability to not care about them rejecting you. accept itttt.

Highly competitive? Don't make me laugh. It was my safety--AND the only school I got rejected from. How ironic. I have no problem accepting it, have fun at gw and good luck on georgetown for grad school.

sorry to interrupt the fighting :-/...but I wanted to ask you guys if you are able to log into banweb even though you were rejected/waitlisted and if so does it tell you that your status is a new undergrad and gives you your budget figures? I haven't heard yet and i'm curious because I get that screen but word has it the late letter is bad news...

Rejected

Stats:

SAT: 1230 (630 V/600 M)

SAT IIs: 680 Writing, 540 Bio (uh yeah..)

GPA: 3.4 UW/3.8 W

Rank: School doesn't rank, but 25% probably

Subjective:

Essay: Very good- crafted to please GW in particular

Teacher Recs: Fantastic

Counselor Rec: Pretty good, nothing spectacular

Hook (if any): I had visited, interviewed, and talked to the admission director a LOT, he always remembered me (Joe Greenberg)

Location/Person:

State or Country: Massachusetts

School Type: Very competitive public school with a LOT of applicants to GW

Ethnicity: White

Gender: Female

Other Factors: very good ECs, but nothing spectacular

MGene, sorry about the rejection.

Msthang, you need an attitude adjustment. I think that GW's rejection is a good thing. Hopefully it will deflate your ego a little bit.

GW is very selective, so don't take it personably. It will only have a 35% acceptance rate this year. Almost 2/3 of the applicants must be rejected. No, GW isn't Harvard, but it's still competitive.

That was a stupid comment about GW trying to improve its rankings. Yield isn't apart of rankings anymore, so it would be to GW's benefit to accept the most qualified applicants possible.

Hoo, I'm guessing you have a fine GW education behind you. I think you meant to say "don't take it personally". Moreover, I'm not sure which rankings you are referring to, but there are many lists which consider yield, as it is indicative of a school's quality, prestige, etc.

Honestly, GW's rejection really won't have any effect on me or my "ego". It's actually been kind of cool, as my parents and I have enjoyed relaying the story to everyone--they think it's just as funny as we do!

As for what the adcoms "saw in me", I think they saw that I really didn't want to attend their school. Which is fine, I guess I didn't really care about the application since I did it in about 5 minutes.

Nonetheless, it makes sense that you are all going to defend this school. It's the GW board, after all. Again, I wish you all the best.
