Well, it just doesn’t make sense why they would invite me to apply/add UC Merced to my list if I never considered it in the first place. So what I thought was that I was rejected to most of the UC’s I applied to (which would be disastrous) since the UC’s try to accept students to at least one UC.

Bignerd, the only reason you got that email from Merced is because you are ELC. ELC students automatically get into UC Merced this year. Stop worrying for no reason.

If you honestly think that an email from UC Merced means you got rejected from UCLA, you probably aren’t smart enough to be accepted to UCLA anyway.

Bignerd16, this is one of the most random associations ever. UC Merced and UCLA, while they are UC campuses, are separate in terms of their admissions offices. Neither of them know about the status of your admissions results from the other campuses. They all review applications independently and send them independently.

For UCLA, there is no way to tell if you were rejected or accepted until the actual letters get released.

Just be patient and good luck! I applied too and am as nervous as can be. Just hang in there! =)

Question: SInce you were ELC, my son was ELC 2 years ago and got letters from UC Davis, UCI and UCSB that if he applied he would be admitted. Since they changed the definition this year, did any schools, besides Merced, offer guaranteed admission to ELC?

Hello I am part of ELC and eligible in the statewide context and applied to UCI and UCB but I never received the email or any information regarding UC Merced or the Count me in program.

@OP What are your stats and ECs though?? If they are good, than you have a really good chance of being admitted to at least one of the campuses you applied to

I would understand rejection from UCLA and UC Berkeley… but from Santa Barbara and Irvine… people with way lower GPA than I do from my school last year and this year have been or were admitted to SB and Irvine.
And my personal statements were definitely one of the better written ones at my school (as told by English teachers). My EC’s are by far better than most students at my schools since I participated National-level (which no one else did), took on several President positions, and have the 5th highest amount of community service.

Now I’m worried that I’m rejected to all 4 of the ones I applied to because of that UC Merced “Count Me In” email. I thought UC Irvine was a safety. Does UC Merced see who have been denied to all the UC’s applied to by one person as of now or not until later after decisions are released?

ELC is not the top 4% anymore and is pretty much useless (IMO). There is no more guarantee to campus with ELC except Merced I believe. I work as a college counselor in a high school-it is a good thing to get the supplement. Like someone mentioned, you are not rejected yet. Just MAKE SURE you send your counselor the link if they asked for additional counselor info. The student gets this request, not the counselor. We have a 50% placement rate on students that receive supplements. Last year we had a student who received one from Cal and UCLA and got in to Cal only. One interesting thing, and it could be a total coincidence so none of you get your hopes up, students who have been asked by the o/s alumni agency to apply for their scholarship have mostly been accepted.

Good luck. One of my own kids attends UCLA. It is brutally difficult and competitive(science major), but rewarding.
