So I've taken the initiative and have applied to several scholarships, four of them being large in amount.
I just got a letter for one of the large scholarships I applied to stating I was rejected.
I didn't think I was going to get all of them but was really hoping for one.
Nonetheless, this first rejection is a bit of a bummer.

It injected me with a tinge of concern that I might get rejected from some of the universities that I am leaning towards because, if I wasn't good enough for a local scholarship how am I going to compete with the whole state and with others from different states/countries?

Oh well.
Holding out hope for the other scholarships, hopefully a Regents, and letters of acceptance.

Best of luck to everyone who is waiting to hear back from scholarship committees.

Are you transferring from a community college or other institution? Sorry to hear this. The UC system is in a mess, so I think getting money for anyone is very difficult. Do you think you might have better luck in colleges in the rest of the country where money seems to be given out more than in California? You might be doing some sort of community college to UC system school deal, though.

@lynjobes - From my understanding she is currently a CCC student transferring to a UC, but the Scholarship she was rejected from is only a local scholarship and is not from the UC’s.

Which means there’s still plenty of Scholarship opportunities available and No one should be discouraged at this point, there are tons of UC scholarships that people cannot even begin to apply for until they are admitted, just remember that.

@lynjobes
I am transferring from a California Community College.
Well, due to budget constraints I only applied to universities in California.
I actually did a TAG with UCSC but it can’t be honored because of schedule changes made.

Bummer dude. I only applied to 2 (10k/25k) scholarships, and I probably will get neither. I’m sure there must be more qualified people out there with better writing and rhetoric skills.

Keep your expectations low, and you’ll never be disappointed!
