Rejected

i got rejected hah… but i think im going to send in an appeal. when i first sent in my application i had only taken 3 AP classes total and i had gotten b’s in two of them and a’s in one. they knew i was going to take the courses i am (6’s ap’s 4 one semester 2 the next) but im guessing they thought i would fail. i didn’t fail and got all a’s in my first semester courses and have a’s right now. my 10-12 gpa got bumped from 3.83 to 4.03.

i also took part in science olympiad and won a couple awards and our school got first ( i hadn’t mentioned that before in my app) and now im the secratary of a club and participate way more in another club.

my test scores weren’t bad before 32 act and 750 sat two’s (bio and mathII) and 5’s on ap chem ap bio then a 4 in Art history

i hope that’s enough for an appeal… i think it’s just the lack of extra curric’s that got me rejected

I got an email and got all anxious. Then failure happened.

rejected :frowning: I feel horrible.

I got rejected too.

3.8 UC GPA
1890 SAT
550 Chemistry
800 Math II (o_O)
Pretty much no extracurriculars

Not really surprised, but still sucks.

REJECTED… After days of refreshing the page, this is what I waited for!!
For those interested:
4.2 UC GPA
29 ACT
1910 SAT
(To be honest, I thought I would get in)

This wasn’t much of a downer b/c I finally checked UCSD yesterday and I actually got in, but still this kinda hurt!!

Good luck to everyone who decides to appeal!

I got rejected  GPA 3.7 SAT - 1710 300+ hours of community service, 3 leadership positions, 1 job, etc…

I was all anxious and depressed for a month before my decision came out but now that I finally got it after like a month I kinda stopped caring and learned that being sad over a decision is useless and it isn’t going to help reverse their decision. For those of you who are sad, cheer up. It might have been your first choice school (it was mine) but a UC education is a UC education and if you get accepted to any other UC you should at least be proud.

Remember, all UCs received over like 5-10% more applicants and because of budget cuts admission rates were lowered alot so I mean yeah we live in an unlucky time but don’t beat yourself over it, admissions these days are tough, you can tell by the amount of people with good stats that got rejected. Keep that chin up

:( rejected.
3.7 UC GPA
2050 SAT I
790 Chinese, 730 Bio, 700 IIC

rejected! UGh oh well UCSB comes out on monday lets just hope WE ALL GET In

This is very weird, a lot of people at my school with subpar GPAs got into UCI and many of the CCers the got rejected had a GPA and SAT way above those people. I also know they don’t have much EC either.

Wow… i can’t believe you guys got denied… I think its probably because you guys have so high stats, they think that you guys will go to other higher-ranked UCs like UCSD, UCLA or Cal. I think this is dumb though…>.>

Yea *** I got rejected with:
3.63 UC GPA
2190 SAT
700 Math 2, 670 Physics

I didn’t even want to go here in the first place since I got into Cal Poly SLO, but that’s just messed up that I got rejected form here I thought I was in for sure.

Rejected as well.
Also rejected from UCSD
Waitlisted at Cal Poly SLO
Accepted UC Riverside- chancellor’s scholarship :(

3.5W, 2050 SAT
670 Lit, 600 Bio

Lots of APs and college courses
tons of leadership and community service
one award

Irvine was my top choice :(

someone just shoot me now…

You think that’s bad? I got rejected from all the colleges I applied to so far… and I’m STILL waiting for csuf.
I got rejected from CalPoly SLO and UCLA and probably uc davis and then this…

I got my UCI rejection letter when I checked this morning at 11:00 am… it’s weird cus it’s a saturday.

well here are my stats:
applied to: Economics
1950 sat, 1360 cr&m
3.6 uc gpa weighted
Math2: 640 Lit: 580
orchestra, couple clubs but only during soph/junior year
so barely no ec’s at all
One of my essays was very risky, it was about what I learned from my gambling addiction (microcosm of the economic world, false randomness by the chaos theory: how actions control all results, not “luck” and also how greed drives the human to success; without greed nothing is ever accomplished). I also blamed gambling for my low GPA.

The other was about how I wanted to go into economics because I wanted to solve my family’s financial issues. Also, how they struggle with money because of the lack of knowledge, and that I also want to help people like my family deal with similar financial issues.

I can see now why I didn’t get in for multiple reasons. One: low GPA (avg. is around 4~), two, because of my SAT subjects and three, probably that stupid essay. My SAT test is actually above average since they look at the CR&M only. About the EC’s, they barely care, it’s one of their last priorities to check on their list.

Ok, so I was super freaking out because I was getting my admission decision later than the others. I’ve probably read hundreds of pages of forums to see what my chances were and also, to feel some hope. I found out that UCs are VERY strict about GPA because someone with a 1500 SAT but had a 4.2 GPA, got in. So for those of you who are still waiting for a decision, if your GPA is well above the average then you have a HIGH chance of getting in. I think it’s because GPA shows how studious you are. So, for all of you sports people/high EC people, just keep your GPA high, get the average SAT and write a mediocre essay. If everyone did that, 85% would get in… although there would be a few unlucky people.

I’m just saying this, so you don’t have to turn insane waiting for the admission decision for stupid UCI. I don’t get why they don’t just give it all out in a 1 week period.

and pray to God, if you’re religious…(I forgot to pray to God about UCI)
Trust me, I’ve gotten out of mexico w/o a passport after praying to God and constantly repeating my Hail Mary’s and Our Father’s, even if I only knew the first line. It’s a long story, I’m definitely not an illegal immigrant. But, that is a good enough reason for me to believe that praying works.

I realize now that if you want to work hard in high school, you have to work hard ALL THE WAY. Or if you know you can’t, just have fun, go to a cheap college (community), then transfer to a good school. My sis goes to Berkeley, and it’s really difficult there, even if they’re basic courses that don’t even apply to your major. So going to a difficult school your freshman year may not always be a good thing when you can just easily fulfill the basic courses at a “lower” college and then simply transfer over to focus on your major.

I hope everyone who has read this feels better. If you feel you’re going to get rejected, try to accept it before you get your actual decision, or you’ll end up bawling and screaming suicidal phrases like me when I got the cslo rejection. (hopefully not) =)

Screw UCI. This is the ultimate insult; wait so long for this…

My stats:

Like around a 3.7 UC GPA. 4.0+ Weighted (Took every AP/ offered but AP Bio; like 26 semesters of AP/Hons).
2050 SAT
740 Math2 680 Chem
Pretty good/ decent EC’
Good essay
Good Summer Programs/ College Classes/ Pre Collegiate stuff
250+ Hours

Accepted to so far: UCSC, UCR, UCM, Purdue Engineering,
Waitlisted: Cal Poly Engineering
Rejected: UCLA, UCSD (Might appeal), UCI (!!!)
Waiting Nervously for: UCD, UCSB, UCB

:(. U guys definitely deserved to be in there…after seeing the recent admits stats <.<

@the legend:
i havent been following what other admit stats were but yours seem right under normal for most years–>not enough for this year with budget cuts.
also, everyone seems to think they did “pretty good ECs and essays and extracurriculars” in general. keep that in mind when ranking yourself.
you seem to be right in the mix, getting into UCSC but not UCSD. my gut (but im just some random guy on the internet, so take what i say with a grain of salt) is that you are roughly on the same level with davis and SB. (as irvine, davis, and SB are bracketed by SD above and SC below…)
i wish you luck in where ever you go. ive heard incredible things about SC’s campus and purdue’s engineering is going to prepare you incredibly well if you can survive it.

Denied with a 3.55 Weighted, 2160 SAT, and 750+650 Subjects. Year of sports, low income, first generation college student, clubs, couple hundred hours worth of community service, etc.

Still got Davis and SB…and Berkeley. I still wanna hold out hope for Cal due to receiving a Supplemental and sending them my first semester grades [4.4 weighted], but I don’t know if it’s worth it. Think I have a chance at any of those? Kinda devestated at the moment :(

Edit: Also 4 AP classes taken and passed, with an additional 3 taken currently for senior year.

@Jlocke91 with the supplemental review ur chances for Cal definitely will go up  I got suppplemental review also. 4.4 Weighted first semester is definitely an improvement for ur GPA and definitely shows that ur not suffering from senioritis  and improving ur grades. You will have a shot at UCB :).

I sure hope so. Cal is my absolute dream school, and it will be the happiest day of my life if I get in! The supplemental was actually for a ‘physical hardship’-had ulcerative collitis at a young age and had a surgical removal of my colon. Had quite a lot of detrimental effects on my academic career, so I’m hoping that factors in enough! And I’m really hoping the improved gpa helps a lot-it was my only really weak area originally.

Still, UCI generally seems quite a lot easier to get into then UCB. Worries me a lot :(

I didn’t get anything yet? i want to know… i don’t mind if i am rejected or not… I just want to know =(
