I'm so nervous guys. I got flat out rejected from UC Davis and San Diego. I'm a Computer Engineering major, by the way.

3.128 Unweighted, 3.64 UC GPA [Huge Upward Trend: 2.8 fresh -> 4.2 Junior]
33 ACT (35 English 36 Math 32 Reading 30 Science)
790 Math SAT 2

One essay is on how I matured over the summer when I visited India, other one is how I make YouTube videos on technology to share my passion with others. Essays are pretty good in my opinion.

Too lazy to post ECs, but they're pretty decent. I'd say 7.5-9ish out of 10. Essays probably 8-9ish out of 10.

Any chance at UCI for engineering? I'm extremely worried, as are my parents.

@ TheNexus Our resumes are pretty similar. I got rejected from UCD and UCSD as well, and am hoping I get into UCI as a last resort. Did you get into any other UCs?

The UC’s consider GPA more heavily than test scores. IMO, UCI has generally been the more forgiving one of the three “mid-tier” campuses, as far as GPA is concerned. Don’t worry. There’s always a chance still.

Yes you have a chance. If you haven’t gotten a supplemental questionnaire though I’d be wary. But all campuses weigh things differently, and as far as the UC system goes, UCI is arguably the most holistic as far as admissions go. Best of luck!

UC’s put a lot of weight on GPA. I was waitlisted at UCD, accepted at UCSC, and rejected at UCSD. I think my rejection and being waitlisted was mainly due to me being OOS. Irvine asked for a supplemental, so I’m hoping that I either get into Irvine or UCSB. I wasn’t nervous during the months leading up to admissions, this last week I’ve been pretty nervous/anxious.

They do put a lot of weight on GPA. But if you got the supplemental, that’s a good sign. UCs that send out the supplemental do so because they understand that even intelligent and capable students face obstacles and that a GPA is not necessarily an indicator of intelligence/capability/motivation. Berkeley, UCLA, UCSD, and UCI all send out supplementals.

You get it either by special talent, disability, or borderline. You get an email saying you got it and answer two questions. Only selected Freshmen applicants get this.
