Rejection letter

What does a PSU rejection letter say?

its not a rejection. its an acceptance to a branch campus.

i mean if you've only applied to a branch campus.

That's a good question, bri268. Some people assume everyone wants to go straight to UP. That's not true. Some kids don't want to go to UP at all, just a small branch.

So if you get accepted into a branch campus (in spite of an awesome GPA and SATs), this would be considered a "rejection"? With an unweighted GPA of 3.76 and a 2200 SAT score I was "accepted" into a branch campus. Doesn't sound fair to me. My first choice was Univ. Park and I'm confused why I was not considered for the Main campus.

If you did not have your application in by the priority deadline (November 30) it's quite possible to be "rejected" with those stats. If you had your application in on time, I would call admissions and ask for an explanation.

Dear Toggle- I would do what 1moremom said. If you applied before the deadline-then you should call up admissions. I would think that with those stats you should have gotten into Up. Did they offer you the summer? That is what they did with my son. Good luck and keep us posted. If applied after the deadline however that might be why they offered you a branch.

Toggle, yes it doesn't sound fair. But perhaps, they think you were just going to use Penn State as your safety? I don't know. But best of luck.

Yeah, it may have been some Tufts syndrome going on there. Also, admissions are not always fair. Unfortunately, when you have more qualified applicants than available spots then someone is going to be unhappy.

Penn State has too many applications to worry about being anyone's safety. They know they are a lot of peoples' safeties. And with the current economy, it's likely more people will be going with their (financial) safeties than ever before.
