Rejection, Wait List Percentage?

Haha, collegeboard lies. :(

Mhm, my numbers from before were for the senior class of 2004, NYU class of 2008.

I read that colleges generally aim for a smaller class after enrolling a larger class than anticipated the previous year, but I've read nothing about NYU going about this policy. Also, keep in mind that several colleges did drop their early action programs this year. Many colleges are dealing with both factors (enrolling too many students the year before and being more unsure which applicants will eventually enroll) by accepting less students at regular decision and possibly taking more off the waiting list to reach their desired student body size.

Woot for being rejected by NYU!!

is it possible to be taken off the waitlist before May 1st?

I just got waitlisted today too. =( jalfneilafnkwjfwilj

Well, I didn't get a letter, just a email that looked like a rejection email...

"Each year the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at New York University receives applications from far more highly qualified students than we are able to admit. This year has been particularly challenging; we received a record total of over 37,000 applications, and our applicant pool was the strongest ever.

We have just finished the very difficult process of selecting the freshman class for the College of Arts and Science at New York University. After careful review of your application and supporting credentials, the Committee on Admissions is unable to offer you admissions at this time. However, we would like to place your name on a Wait List. We intend to select students from the Wait List to fill any openings that become available in the class. You will receive notification of your final status as soon as possible after May 1, 2008, but not later than June 5, 2008. Students admitted from the Wait List will be considered for financial aid and campus housing."

Very encouraging huh?b ;)

got put on the wait list too (Gallatin)..staying on as NYU is my first choice so I'm really hoping that not many people accept their offers

bump....is it possible to get off the waitlist before May 1st?

thanks in advance

So does anyone have an estimate of how many people will get off the wait list?

And were only 4200 people really accepted?
