Release Date of RD decision results?

Of course. They'll get a letter that tells them "thanks but no thanks".

Yep, everyone will get a decision letter (admitted, denied, or waitlisted) and they will all be mailed on the same day.

Are we expected to send in additional references? I thought the application couldnt be accompanied by additional references and didnt bother to send any, but it seems quite a few people have sent something or the oher

Definitely not expected, no worries. The majority of apps only have the ones we specifically ask for.

Hmm as ben said on another thread, it's too late to send anything now.

thanks. and i wanted to let u know, inspired by your 'pact', i have decided not to get a haircut until (a) i know which college ill be attending next year or (b) i get selected to attend the training/selection camp for the IPhO.

I hope one of them (or even both) come through or my mom is going to kill me before i can fulfill my resolution

I know its too late to send anything merc, but it isnt too late to start getting some sleep again!

Interesting idea, shash_rao!

I was planning to cut my hair the next few days (been a couple of months since I last did that!), but I think I'll wait until I get something in the mail from MIT, which will hopefully be a nice, fat envelope. :D

That is awesome! :-)

Hey Ben, I emailed admissions@mit.edu with my supplement 2 days back: will that be included??

and btw it would be really helpful if MIT Admissions could list their Fax Number Online :)

hello - if they got it before tues afternoon, it's probably in there. RE the fax number, I think we hide it on purpose to encourage the use of email, but I've never actually asked...

Ben - for internationals, are all acceptance packages and rejection letters sent out by DHL? How long after the official release date do most internationals receive their letters?

Just wanted to know how long I should spend freaking out after the official release date before any notification arrives...lol=)

Thanks!=)

Whoa, March 15th is so soon! Less than a month! It seemed like yesterday was late December and that there were still 90 more days til mid-March.

DHL/fedex only for acceptances. :p

4 days for most parts of the world.

oh wow - thanks mercurysquad!=) so which means... we can all give up like after march 20 if we don't get a package.. erps

mercurysquad's got it right - DHL only for admits, regular mail for the others.

If it isnt against regulations, could you tell me approximately how many students get into MIT from india in a typical year. When i say india, i mean those who live and study there.

We don't admit regionally so # of admits for any given country changes from year to year. Overall, we look to have about 8% of the class be international students though.

how does waitlisting work? in that, if i get waitlisted...since some other colleges i've applied to have a may 1 deadline for confirming my spot, would it be a gamble then to stay waitlisted? or would i simply forfeit a deposit at the other school?

You would have to risk forfeiting the deposit or else risk not going to college next year.
