The MyMIT website says that RD applicants will be notified of their decisions in mid-March. Does this mean like 15 March, or plus/minus a couple of days? When exactly were the results released last year?

Also, does MIT send out an email on that date if you're admitted? Do acceptees get a DHL package or something like that? Thanks=)

it's probably plus or minus a couple of days. Last year they went out on Pi Day (3/14). Watch Matt McGann's blog (or here) to see when the letters are mailed.

Wow an admissions officer posts on CC... that is so awesome. That's why I love MIT, the people there are honest and caring. Darned if I ever see a person from Harvard admissions writing a blog or posting on a private forum...

Ben, thanks for showing up here. I have a question about the mid-year reports. Mine was sent two weeks ago but MyMIT shows that it still has not been processed. Is that something I need to worry about? Also, my high school sends out a generic mid-year report for all of its students to all of the colleges they applied to instead of school specific ones. Is that why my mid-year report hasn't been processed yet? Anyways, I would appreciate whatever information you have about the mid-year reports. I want mine to be in front of the committee at decision time especially since I just had the best semester of my life.

There will be no email or online notification. Telephone notification is usually available a few days after every domestic applicant should have received their packages. Got to wait for the ol' snail mail.

Applicants who attend a non-US school: if your school's system generates a mid-year report, send it. If not, I wouldn't worry about it.

EA admits don't need to send in a mid-year report, only a final at the end of the year.

Oh, and don't worry if MyMIT takes a little while to register your mid-year report, we probably have it if you've sent it. If you want to be sure, call in and we can check for you.
