Last year, around this time, I was asking about how the off-campus rental process worked at IU and lamenting about how early it started. Well, here we are again, going through the same process. Son thought he had a jump on things, but just got beat out for a house he was supposed to see this morning.

I'm hoping that A2Wolves will respond this year since he was adamant about not renting from a property management firm called Elkins. I'm looking for his or anyone's comments/advice regarding this company. Son is looking for a house to rent with a couple of his buddies. He says there are a lot of Elkins properties available, but remembered A2's warning.

A2, if you are reading this, can you tell us what problems you had with this company?

Sorry I haven't been to the forum lately. I'm graduating this semester while working 2 jobs and taking 20 credits, so time is not widely available.

It allows you to choose by price, length of rental, size of apartment, number of bedrooms and bathrooms and zipcode (to figure distance from the university). It also links to some of the other websites showing pictures of the apartments for rent.

Another link I like is heraldtimesrentals.com

Lots of these Apartment sites don't list every apartment complex, rather they are limited to just a few well advertised one's. The Herald-Times site has virtually every complex, problem is, they aren't mapped.

just remember there are 2 Elkins in the apartment business in B-town. I have heard nothing but nightmares about Elkins Apartments, but i and several roommates lived in Elkins Properties and had nothing but great service… got our deposit back too!
