Report Card vs. Transcript

Hi!

My school's first semester (out of 2 semesters) just ended a few days ago and my transcript won't be out until late February. But, my report card is already out. Should I ask my counselor to send in:

my midyear report NOW with my REPORT CARD

OR

my midyear report THREE WEEKS LATER with my TRANSCRIPT???

I heard that transcripts are usually more official, but at the same time, I don't want to get rejected because of a really late midyear report. I am applying to some Ivys and some of HYPSM, so I guess that they are willing to reject an applicant who has even a small problem. Thank you so much in advance for your thoughts on this!!

Have your counselor contact the schools for you and find out which documents are acceptable.

Have your GC send it in now. S/he can explain that the transcripts won’t be out until later and that they will send it in then. I would think they should believe your GC as far as your semester grades go. Committees are starting to meet.

I doubt you’re the first kid in your high school to apply to college. I’m sure you GC knows the best procedure given the district’s policies. Don’t sweat it.

The schools don’t reject kids for stuff like this. They are humane. They will contact schools for missing data first.

Thank you for all your advice. I am going to ask my counselor about this and see if she can send in my report card now (and also send the transcript later). I guess I will have to ask the colleges if they are willing to accept report cards.

[I am from a new high school (second graduating class) in a small town where nobody has applied and been accepted to HYPSM for 5 years! I hope that my GC can help me sort this out.] :)
