Reputation of specific departments/majors/programs @ Rutgers NB

Admitted to the SAS, if I had to choose, I'd most likely pick the NB campus.
But I'm still deciding if it's worth the hefty price tag. So far, Rutgers seems to be my top school of choice, but the financial aid is pretty disappointing to say the least. I'll try to keep this short, but in my situation, the only type of aid offered was a federal subsidized loan, which me and my family are trying to avoid. If I tried explaining our financial situation more to the office of financial aid, is it possible I could be granted additional aid?

Also, I'm considering the reputation and quality of the Journalism, Mass Media & Communications department and major. What can you guys tell me about these fields of concentration? My interest may likely change, but for now, this is what I'm most interested in studying. Leaning towards a liberal arts, humanities kind of path. I know RU is known for its strength in other areas, and I'm worried if it's a smarter investment to consider, because I'm also debating whether or not to just attend a state school due to the pricing.

Thank you.!

My friends son graduated two years ago with a degree in Journalism and could not find a job. He finally took a job in sales. Not sure if this was just him but if I were you I would check into it with the department head. I came across an article last year stating that Liberal Arts graduates make the least amount of money over their life time. I son’t want to discourage you but please do your research and choose wisely.
