My board exams didn't go so well and I'm really worried about this. I know it is highly improbable anything like this would happen but I need to know - do internationals get rescinded?
Have any of you heard of people getting rescinded? What were their marks like?
Thank you.

Here are my reasons why there is a very minimal chance of getting rescinded :

We are international students. They have only chosen the best among the pool. So if they kick us out its their loss. And they can't afford it.

Most of the decisions came AFTER we have given our boards. So as far as I can infer their clause stating that we need to maintain the same academic level after acceptance is null.

Especially in India, everyone starts preparing for their Indian College Exams. So a drop in school marks is a general trend.

They won't rescind you directly but will ask you for an explanation if required.

We have to go through a LOT of things before our results come in. Visa. Plane Tickets etc etc etc and we get our marks in late may so they cant just kick us out. They will take us on academic probation.

I had a few other points but can't remember them at the moment.

And I haven't heard of any international students being rescinded.

lol maybe I am sounding too sure because I am in the same boat... Don't take those words for granted =_=

Ok, thanks anyway.

Anyone else?

I disagree. Most of the grades American high school student get in their second semester are also assigned before they get their acceptance letter in March or April. They can still be kicked out for bad grades on their final report.

That being said, I think you would have to do really poorly on the board exams to get your admission rescinded. I know it's easier said than done but try not to worry about it too much. As you said yourself, it is extremely unlikely. The only cases I know were students (Americans) who e.g. failed English or math and consequently could not graduate from high school. Otherwise students are usually put on academic probation rather than have their offer of admission taken away.

Thank you, b@r!um !

This is exactly why I <3 B@r!um :)

But we Indians have a reasons for low marks in final exams..Well I just hope it doesnt happen!

Thanks again b@r!um!

Especially since the board exams this year- changed in pattern and difficulty not to mention length.

My predicted results were 91-93% - i will be happy to get 81-83%.

Lets not think about it for now!

You are crying over 81%? Never....ever...talk...to...me...again.

I really really hope i will get above 80% crosses fingers

Do you realize that you are not helping at all, Shreya? :) :p

Do you want me to say- "Forget it Ajay; board marks don't matter a **** and i'll probably get in 60's "

For the record- i screwed 20 marks in maths, 14 in Economics (and i am gonna major in that ugh!), left 12 marks in business studies and 6 marks in accounts.
English marks suck anyway.

And "commerce is easier then science so even if i manage in 80's its probvably equal to 60's in science"

Does that make you feel better?

Frankly, yes :D

On a serious note, I keep forgetting that you are a commerce student

I screwed 20 in math too. Dont want to talk about Physics & Comp. Chem was good. Eng was good too.

btw check the group for the party updates ;)

you're gonna major in Economics?? YAAAY :D

btw. i don't see any party updates??

Updated the Buzzing Group.

12

lol, that's a good one.

So you still green, Abhinav?

green as in?

I was wondering if anyone had heard about international student being rescinded?

b@r!um, I didn't know my admission could be rescinded until I got my acceptance letter which was after my exams :D

j/k:)

I agree that there is no need to rescind before you get an acceptance letter. But why does it matter whether you get the acceptance letter before or after your exams? You lost me there...
