Research Opportunities at IU

<p>Hi, I'm a direct admit to the college of arts and sciences and I hope to be a Neuroscience major. I got a multitude of scholarships and a place in the honors college, but I was not accepted into either the STARS or IFLE programs.</p>

<p>How hard is it to get research experience in IU when you're not a part of these programs? I wish to start research as soon as possible but it seems that labs do not recruit many undergrads unless they're in STARS.</p>

<p>Email any professor that’s doing stuff you’re interested in (or even stuff you’re not) expressing interest in doing research–you have to start at the bottom of the totem pole, but you will find some who will take you. </p>

<p>I know people who got into labs fall of their freshman year. Email a lot of professors and tailor your emails to each of them. Good luck and feel free to PM me if you have any more questions!</p>
