9 deferrals?! That's harsh.

And who did the survey? Is this advaY? I think we need Quentin to do one for us too!

Ya life is harsh.

Wow, Someone From Rsi '04 Was Actually Deferred From Mit Ea!!!
Blasphemy!!!;)

Well...it is just a summer program.

I mean yes it is very prestigious and all, but I'm not entirely sursprised that people were deferred...

I however, definitely am sr6622. MIT not accepting Rickoids is like Wimbledon not accepting Roger Federer into its main draw. It just isn't right lol.

Yeah Nghi, do you know who was deferred from MIT? I can't believe that would happen EA....Did they get in RD?

The essays and/or recs and/or senior year grades must have sucked.

OR

MIT is just keeping applicants - even Rickoids - on their toes, and the person was accepted in the Spring. ;)

You can't say a rickoid was rejected because of essays/recs/grades that sucked anymore than you can say that about anyone else. As far as MIT keeping applicants on their toes, that's ridiculous.

when MIT's adcom is sitting around a table, they don't get see "RSI" on an application, hit it with a big ACCEPTED stamp and then toss it in a pile. They examine the application as they would anyone else's.
RSI is a selective program, MIT is a selective university, they're often looking for the same traits. MIT admissions people are even on the RSI admissions committee, so there's definitely a bit of similarity in admission standards. But the distinction that should be made is that rickoids aren't accepted to MIT because they're rickoids. They're accepted for who they are and what probably made them get into RSI in the first place.

I'm sure most of you realized this, but for those that didn't I just want to keep things clear.
as far as the survey results go, honestly its not surprising at all. I'll add that this was a voluntary survey, and that the results may even be a bit skewed.

RSI definitely rocked, and I hope that all of you get a chance to experience it!

I just meant that those who were accepted into RSI probably had all-around qualified credentials that would look equally impressive on an application to MIT. My statement was based on the assumption that MIT and RSI look for similar things in applicants since they seem to share common purposes. Therefore, the things that were controlled after RSI were probably responsible for the deferral.

wowww a deferral from mit?

9 deferrals from harvard!!!
stop it man youre scaring me...

Do these RSI applications come out December 1st or some random day in December?

I just want to get started, and get admitted, and then wait for June 26.

Btw, can anyone figure out what the number 138 has to do with November 13, 2005 and RSI?

dont all people get admitted at the same time regardless of when u send it it?

yeah, i didn't mean it like that.

o ok i was just thinking if you sent it in a lot earlier, you would be so nervous by the time decisions come out (i know i would)

haha, true.

I think most people wait until the deadline to send it in for that reason, and because a lot of applicants procrastinate anyways.

Is the CEE website down for anyone else? I can't access it on this computer. Maybe they're putting up the application two weeks early? :) :) :)

"I just want to get started, and get admitted, and then wait for June 26."

lol

what do u write to colleges and RSI if you did a science research individially but didn't enter the Intel or any kind of competition.

because of lack of time i gave up entering this year.. so planning to enter next year

CEE.org isn't working for me, either. Don't worry, it's not just your computer. And I doubt putting the application up on the website would mean having to close the entire thing down.

Wait, so you don't have to show CEE your high school transcript or your SAT scores??? I figure anything below 2300 on the SAT and a 4.0 GPA will actually be detrimental to my application, so the less sub-par scores academically I show them, the better off I am.
