Can an ND student stay on campus all 4 yrs, or does ND forcibly push them off campus to live?

You are guaranteed housing for all four years, and a staggering number (last stat I remember was hovering around 65%) of students stay on campus their senior year. Students also very often stay in the same dorm for all four years, developing a strong identification with their dorm.

In theory everyone can stay on, although there isn’t quite enough housing for all to live on campus for 4 years. Many upperclassmen find they enjoy the freedom of living off, however, and off-campus apartments/houses are a big part of the social scene.

If you stay on as a senior, you may apply to be an RA, which comes with free housing and laundry.

thanks. How far are away is off campus living? A walk? need a car? GEneral question: is the immediate surrounding locale of the campus the city of south bend, or it is suburbs of south bend, or neither (indiana corn fields)?

My S lives off-campus, less than 5 minutes away. Would want a car from there, but there are rentals within walking distance. Immediate surrounding locale is the city of South Bend. ~15-20 minutes, maybe a bit more depending on direction, driving time each way to get to corn field country.
