<p>has anyone ordered from the residence hall linen company listed in the housing self serve section of the UC website? I called UC Housing and they told me that once you get your housing assignment and it is closer to move in time for the fall you can have your items you order shipped directly to the dorm. They also told me she should be hearing in June what dorm she will be assigned.</p>
<p>Hrrmm, I hadn’t seen that, Daapmom, but what I’ve done in the past to avoid lugging everything is to pre-order from bed, bath & beyond for local pickup, and anything else can be 'amazon’ed to the dorm as needed.</p>
<p>since we live in maryland we thought it would be less to have to stick in the car for the 10 hour drive. seemed you get alot of items for your money. depending on what grouping you order you can get pillows, 2 complete sets of sheets, 2 complete sets of towels (bath sheet, regular size and washcloths), a hamper, under bed storage container, comforter, cotton blanket, etc. here is the link on the UC website. <a href=“http://www.uc.edu/uchousing/resident_self_service/residence_hall_linens.html”>http://www.uc.edu/uchousing/resident_self_service/residence_hall_linens.html</a></p>
<p>I’ve looked at it Daapmom. Here’s the thing. You might be getting a decent price, but I don’t see a way to actually measure the quality, and, well, essentially the feel, of the stuff before buying it. Sure, they say you can return it for a full refund, but if you buy a package, and you don’t like the pillows, how much do you get for those two items of the 22 item package? I’ll stick with Bed, Bath & Beyond. Touch and feel the stuff locally in our town, place the order for store pickup near UC (8 minutes away), and pick it up at move-in after dropping off whatever we do decide to lug with us on the trip.</p>

<p>Well, I can testify that—after my son’s freshman year in college—the quality of the “upgraded” sheets that I purchased in August from Residence Hall linens is such that I’m throwing them in the trash. The contour sheets are completely shot (no elastic at all). The comforter still seems fine, and the mattress cover is barely usable, though he might get one more year out of it. Most of the things that came in the package (fan, light) were in cheap boxes that were falling apart. Honestly, I think you could do better in a dollar store. I must admit that it was very convenient, but I think (am not certain) that you can get something similar at Bed Bath and Beyond, although I can’t speak for the quality. I did find it hard to shop for that extra-long twin bed, which is why I went with the Residential Linens place. I wouldn’t do it again, but I would start shopping in March or April, or throughout the year.</p>

<p>I’m in the process of trying to get them to ship anything we’ve ordered at all. They keep saying some things are backordered, but only the ‘warehouse’ knows what item, they don’t have access to the warehouse records, and I’ll just have to wait for them to tell me what is missing. They REFUSE to go ahead and ship what they do have (not that customer service knows what they do have, anyway). I believe they don’t actually have the items shown in the catalog and website and are eventually going to offer to replace the make believe items with something else. It is a shockingly incompetent, and from what another poster wrote, poor quality company. </p>
