Son is in Knott Hall. Anyone else get there assignment?

Yeah, I got mine today...I'm in Duncan, the new hall that is opening this fall! I am really excited!

Son is in Keough.

I'm in Zahm, and I'm not quite sure how I feel about it yet.

DUNCAN REPRESENTIN'

eph19, love that you're in zahm. they're a completely spirited group and i really liked the dorm myself

Anyone heard anything about Lyons Hall?

My friend stayed in Lyons. It is one of the oldest dorms, but very nice architecually so I think you will enjoy it. Just know that its next to the Manor and that it has no aircondition lol

What is the Manor? And how old is old-is it still in good condition?

Alumni Hall

It says i have 3 roommates. 1 more with me in room 160 and 2 in room 162. what does this mean?

MarkSK - congratulations. You know how they say it's a rooming "lottery"? Well, you just won.

^ lol, Yea I am hoping for an opening in Alumni Hall too

Any thoughts on Sorin...my son just got word...he is excited

trackdad: He ought to be, Sorin is a great place to live during one's education at Notre Dame. Filled with tradition and history, Sorin also houses and has historically housed many notable men of Notre Dame. Though he will have to deal with the small nuisances of living in a historical building, it is nonetheless a small price to pay for the experiences he is bound to receive.

BobbyC, spirited is one word for it. I wouldn't have minded a quieter dorm, but I'm sure I'll learn to love Zahm. Location isn't too bad, anyway.

Duncan should be fun, making your own traditions and all.

For all of you who will be living in the older dorms, don't worry about the age of the building. As a Walsh resident, I'll take the character and tradition over AC and non-scary elevators any day.

trackdad- I'm not really a Sorin fan, but my boyfriend lives there, so I'm fairly familiar with it. It is a neat dorm architecturally and it has a lot of traditions due to its long history. There are some great people there, but its very fratty (in the always partying, hazing (only for the quint, don't worry about your son), 'hey bro' sort of way). Rules are pretty lax. They are also the only dorm to have ever attempted to secede from the university (Sorin guys will tell you this makes them awesome, but really- who wants to secede from Notre Dame...?).

Also, for eph19- As you know, Zahm has an interesting rep, but I wouldn't worry too much about it, you'll probably end up loving it. Also, other than Morissey, you won't find too many "quiet" guys dorms...

I just meant quieter than Zahm's reputation would suggest that it is, but I'm not too concerned. It sounds like a fun dorm to live in.

How much of an impact does not having AC have- ie. does it stay hot for that long?

Any thoughts on carroll hall other than being the place to send the freshmen they want to punish!

I hear the rooms are atleast decently sized at Carroll.

What about Walsh? Besides you know, having the best location on campus :)
