residence halls for upperclassmen?

i will be a transfer student in my third year of college this fall.

what dorms are especially geared towards upperclassmen and the pros and cons of the different halls?

i'd really prefer a suite or apartment style set-up, where i could possibly have my own room with some privacy, but being a transfer i still want to be in a space that really encourages interaction with other students.

the places i've found that seem to provide this setup are east campus village and parts of o-house. can anyone give me more specific/personal info on these two dorms? are there any other residence halls that might be good for me?

what about off-campus housing? i have a few friends in apartments or houses in athens, and that really seems nice, but i'm guessing it would be best to warm-up to the school living on campus. if i do decide to live off-campus, how long does it tend to take to find a place to rent? i guess it just totally depends on who i talk to... would it be too much trouble to live off campus for just my last year and a half, especially if i plan on studying abroad for one or more of those semesters?

ALSO, more importantly, since i'm a transfer and just now finalizing my decision to attend UGA, will i be sort of out of luck in housing assignments? will i get the last picks? how quickly do rooms in ecv and o-house fill up?

I am interested in seeing the responses to this thread since I am in the same situation. Liz6298, I know it is off topic but have you been accepted yet and if you do not mind me asking what is your GPA. I am still waiting to hear from UGA and I hope I hear from them soon since I need to find somewhere to live in Athens before the fall semester starts. I hope this thread gets some informative responses....

ECV is probably your best bet if you want your own room. I heard there's some interaction there, but a lot of people keep to themselves. Any off-campus apartment is probably just going to be worse unless you really put yourself out there.

O-house is more dorm/community oriented but you share a room with someone else. Most people there do like it though.

I prefer housing with some interaction since I do not know anyone that is a student at UGA. I will be looking to make some new friends to make the next two of my college education more enjoyable!

yes, i've already been accepted. My gpa is somewhere around 3.6 or 7.

also thanks for the info, space. i signed up for evc, o-house, or reed, but now i'm just worried about actually getting any of those places since i signed up so late.

also, roommate matches, i'm a bit worried about that. everyone i know at uga has already got their housing situations all figured out, and i'm guessing that's true for most students that have had any form of social life during their time at uga. do there really end up being a lot of cool/fun/friendly people in the upperclass that still choose to be matched with a roommate?
