Residence Halls

wow that did not work at all! go on college ******* and type in University of Washington and then you can look at the Campus Housing section. Hope this helps!

college PROWLER…why is it not letting me type that out normal?

"Steven’s Court is typically reserved for upperclassmen so unless you are a junior or older, you won’t stand a chance at getting placed there. "

Not true AT all. (I live in steven’s court)

Building L & K are reserved for freshmen only
These buildings have an RA (residence assistant that lives in each building)

Buildings A, B, C, D are for anyone
(These buildings have a CA - community assistant, that does not necessarily live in their building)

Main difference between ra and ca is ra’s are more hands on to help out the freshman, regular halls have ra’s

J&M is for married couples OR any undergraduate class, however preference is given to graduate for these two buildings only.

Hey, thanks for the feedback everyone! I think Hansee is still my number one choice, it sounds lovely!

I have a question to add to this…

I am stuck between Terry, McCarty, and Haggett…

Terry has the pre-health communities which I think would be helpful? and ive heard its a social dorm

McCarty has bigger rooms and is close to greek row and more stuff on north campus

and Haggett is on north campus and does not have triple rooms which I really dont want…

soo what do you think would be better???

any feedback would help thankss(:

Anyone know much of anything about Poplar Hall yet? I looked online at the pictures and it looked pretty awesome, but AFAIK it hasn’t officially been opened yet. The rooms are almost twice the size of the rooms in the other dorms, so I’m kind of tempted to put that as my first dorm choice. I would have a hard time doing anything other than sleeping in Haggett (provided it’s a double room). The rooms are simply too tiny for two people to live in. For my tastes anyways. My room at home is literally larger than the dorms at Haggett…

bumpppppppppppp

Bumppppppp!

I really want to room in Poplar Hall based off of the diagrams and the fact that some room has their own individual bathroom. But it is very pricey at $2525 per quarter =/

And it says in the Welcome packet that freshmen aren’t allowed in Poplar :/

@momomomo I didn’t read that at all in my packet. Are you sure? I read online that they’re opening Poplar up to upperclassman first, but after a 2 week time period freshman can apply for it.

Costax you are right, I emailed the UW about it  they said to not depend on it though, since it’ll be super competitive

Slightly unrelated to thread, but…

@CARMIL: For some reason, CC “bleeps out” the urls of other college info or discussion websites that have a popular reputation. Popular theory is that it doesn’t like the competition.

According to what I’ve heard, I’d rank them this way

 1. Terry
 2. McMahon
 3. Lander
 4. McCarty
 5. Haggett
 6. Everything else…haha

Isn’t Lander all freshmen though? So wouldn’t one be more inclined to put it as #1?

^^That’s almost how I’m ranking them, except switch Terry with Lander. My only problem with both of those is that I’d prefer to be closer to campus, but at the same time I really want the whole freshman experience.

@ilikeuw that’s really personal preference, I’m open to having some upperclassmen in my dorm.

Here’s my take as a current freshman:
Lander is awesome if you are a freshman. Don’t worry about distance from campus, everything around the U District is fairly easy to walk to, and Lander is right where the bus stop is, so you can go into the city or up the ave with your U-Pass ridiculously easily. The food is better at Lander-Terry if you prefer variety and you are close to the ave. The rooms are smaller, but if you are sociable you probably won’t spend that much time in your room. Terry is similar, but a little more mature because it has fewer freshmen.

I don’t know much about north campus, but McMahon is not great if you are a freshman since it’s your one chance to meet lots of different people and McMahon’s clusters don’t allow you to meet that many people.

And none of you have to worry about the nightmare of Mercer so just be happy.

When you sign up for housing, do you give your top choice and an alternative? Or sign up for three and they pick one…? And is priority based solely on first come first serve?

Help, guys! Does anyone know if there any incentives to accepting UW’s offer of admission early? I know that the application for housing won’t be up until after May 1, but are there any other benefits of accepting the offer right now?
