Residence halls?

Hey guys, I'm a high school senior looking to finalize my college decision. Although I haven't made a formal decision yet, I'm most likely headed to NYU this fall and I want some perspective on the freshman halls there (specifically, Rubin and Third North, although I'd like to know about the other halls as well). I'd like to save some money on housing--what are the cheapest options (besides the triples)? Also, what does an "efficiency room in suite or studio" mean? Thanks for all the help in advance!

Hey, I’m actually an NYU student and I think I can help you answer a few questions. I am currently living in Brittany Hall. This hall was recently renovated and is brand new (everything is so shiny). I am going to give you a list of the best dorms that i wish someone would’ve given me when I was in High School.

 1. Brittany Hall - Brand New Building (Everything is NEW). Brittany Hall is very close to both Washington Square Park (5 min walk) and Union Square (8 min walk). This is very beneficial because most of the best dining halls are located near Union Square and most if not all class are located near WSP. (Has a great community feeling and has hard wood floooorsss! with walk in closets and has really big rooms )

2)Founders Hall - Close to both Union Square and WSP. The only thing I don’t like about this dorm is that it has linoleum flooring. Also the rooms are pretty spacious.

3)Palladium - Rooms are pretty small (especially if you compare it to brittany hall). But the cool thing about palladium is that it has a kitchen. Palladium also has a gym with a pool, and a dining hall. (one of the best dining halls if you ask me) (BAD - far form WSP)

4)University Hall (U Hall) - Rooms are pretty small (especially if you compare it to brittany hall). U hall also has its own dining hall called Burger Studio where you use a computer to construct you own personalized burger. (BAD - far form WSP)

5)Weinstein - This hall has the most dining hall in campus including Side Stein, Down Stein, Up Stein (includes Chick-fil-a, Quiznos, and Jamba Juice) and Kosher Cafe. The rooms look like prison cells to be honest but it is located on the corner of WSP.

 1. Goddard - located on top of Starbucks and on the corner of WSP, it takes literally 1 sec to get to class. The rooms are pretty small and dark.

7)Rubin - Honestly, It has an amazing community feeling but it has no AC. Im probably over exaggerating but i think that this building is the oldest most decrepit building in NYU. Please save yourself and don’t go here.

I have no experience with Hayden because it has been closed. But if you have a chance to apply to it, I would. Make Hayden you first choice. It is being renovated as we speak and when it is done it will look amazing.

I live in a Triple/Double Suite in Brittany hall. This means I live in a dorm with two rooms. In my room there are 3 people (Me, Roommate 1, and Roommate 2). And in the other room (suite) there are two people (Suite mate 1 and Suite mate 2). All five of us have are own closet and we share a bathroom. It may sound like a lot of people but it actually isn’t. I live in the efficiency room in the suite.
A studio is more expensive on the other hand.

I hope this was helpful
