then what's the point of the deadline?

well i'm just saying that if you haven't seen the place and are kinda iffy on it you can just not sign the lease yet to give you some leeway to move out and etc. i forgot how much money you have to pay if you want to leave after you've already signed it and blah

but there is no additional late charges for getting the lease after the deadline right?

I think the latest you can sign your lease and get it in is on your move-in day, so before Aug.25 I guess. However whether or not you sign your lease I think you're still liable for the cancellation charges. I don't think whether or not you've signed your lease affects that.

4 weeks left .. anyone nervous ?

hell yeah!

what in particular are you nervous about? just curious

I'm not nervous at all. I can't wait to get there!

excitement nerves. i like being new but everything being new to me is kind of intimidating

I'm a little nervous as well, but just mostly about meeting new people. My excitement, however, overwhelms my nerves. I still can't believe that I am going to Canada!!!

yeah i guess everyones going to feel the same nerves as you, me too, so it shouldn't be too bad. My problem is that I've never moved much in my life and have been pretty much in the same environment for as long as I can remember, so moving is definately going to be a big shock to my system! Guess i'll get over it when I move in though.

so who, besides me, is moving in all by themselves on moving day??
lol I WON the argument against my parnts on going and settling alone

I wish I'd won that argument! I think my dad's coming to help me move all my stuff.

americanadakidd--how on earth did you win that argument? lol i'm moving in early and my parents have decided to stay there WITH ME until august 24!!!!!!!! they won't leave!!!!!

crazychai, youre not alone-im driving up with both of my parents on the 22nd, and they are staying until the 24th or possibly the 25th, kill myself...
im afraid my crazy mother is going to scare my roommate.

lol wierd enough: im taking a cell phone on international plan and then supposedly mailing it back home after a couple of weeks when i get settled

well, I won the moving in by myself thing.
I won't be moving in totally alone, my best friend's coming along.
He lives in Douglas, while I live in New.
But either way, the parents aren't around, which is the point, no?

I actually want my parents to come with me. It's just recently, after all the excitement and nerves and whatever, I think I might really miss my parents. I haven't moved much during my life either and I've always had my parents and grandma there to take care of everything. I can't even do my own laundry. Although they're pretty much leaving the morning after my move-in, so they won't be there long. Is anybody's parents going to the parent thing during Discover McGill?

Its only my dad, and he will probably attend t he parent thing... have any of u registered for frosh?

yeah i registered through that little attachment in the welcome to mcgill booklet. But i guess those r only to get an estimate of the numbers they can expect to get, it's not like they'r going to have 7 ft bouncers at frosh!
