I sent in a transfer request after I made the $300 deposit and stated that I wished to make a transfer request. Do they actually read the request (i.e where you would prefer to transfer to, etc)? It seems like they just responded with a generic response saying that I'm on the wait list and that they will let me know if a room opens up.

Should I be expecting anything out of a transfer request? Or do they just give students the run around and expect them to settle for their current offer? Should I send a follow up email asking where I currently stand with the wait list?

You can email them if you want, but the dorm wait list isn’t just ‘giving the students the run-around.’ I know people who got off the list last year. But as far as getting the specific dorm you wanted… It depends on its availability. For instance, if your first choice was a Unit double, it’s very doubtful you’ll get it. But they’ll probably be able to put you somewhere like Clark Kerr, or a Unit triple.

That’s good news. Also, should I be worried about them giving me a housing offer that is not one that I specified in the application or the transfer request? My current housing offer isn’t the best, but it could be worse.

does anyone know when we are notified of our transfer? I really don’t want bowles no offense

If you get a housing offer that you deem ‘worse’ than your original offer, you can stick with your original offer, no problem.

Not sure when offers come out, but a friend had not been notified of her transfer until sometime after our CalSO at the end of June, if I remember correctly.

Go there in person. I’m a continuing student, and I went in and asked them to change it and they did. So did a few friends of mine.

To add on, they didn’t make the change right away. They emailed me 2 weeks later with the new offer, but I didn’t get that waitlist bs.

Do they honor the transfer request over your roommate request? haha
