I'm a junior and I am considering MSU. I am a little confused about how the residential colleges like James Madison work. Anyone willing to explain?

you should go the website.

too lazy to explain how it works entirely. But generally how James madison works is, you apply on your app as a “james madison college” major. You get placed into case hall with the rest of the james madison freshmen. You take 2 classes - a yearlong intro to public policy class, and yearlong intensive writing class with your fellow james madisonians (along with 2-3 other classes of your choice). Your classes are held in case hall and your professors offices are in case hall. Towards the end of your first year you choose a major - 1 of 4, international relations, comparative cultures/politics, social relations/policy, or political theory/constitutional democracy. etc. etc. Benefits of being in the residential college - meet lots of students in your major. more of a community feeling. easy access to classes and professors. smaller class sizes than the average social science class. etc. The other residential colleges have the same concept, although I wouldn’t know the particulars

I am in RCAH which is the Residential College in the Arts and Humanities. The website explains it pretty well. If you have more specific questions, I’d be more than happy to help, but that’s a pretty broad question lol.
