Both. Wireless is when you are not in the dorms. Resnet is for when you are in the dorms.

Edit: Wait, are you talking about a desktop computer? If so, resnet for sure. Period. You are very limited in bandwidth wirelessly, the service is not guaranteed to work in the dorms, and it is far slower.

So you can’t get Internet in your dorm without resnet? Jester specifically.

Orientation wireless was just a one time thing?

Wireless is not guaranteed in the dorms. Some of the dorm rooms have absolutely zero signal inside of them. Others do get it. It’s just luck. Either way, you are supposed to be using Resnet when inside the dorm room, otherwise you are just adding more strain to the wireless network, which is designed for use outside, in classes, etc.

You get 500mb (a week?) on the wireless internet, you will go through that VERY fast if you are trying to do traditional internet activities on your computer via wireless (even watching YouTube or listening to streaming music). Plus the speed is much slower. I’ve also heard things about time restrictions on the wireless, but I’ve never encountered them myself. I used my iPod Touch all through orientation for internet around campus.

I was actually talking about a wireless card as in the ones from AT&T and Verizon.

Like those internet-everywhere cards that operate on the 3g network? They’re way too slow for me to use. That’s like iPhone quality speeds for your regular internet connection.
