Resources for course Selection at a UC

if I actually knew about assist.org, it'd have been of great use to me when I was planning out my courses.

is there something equivalent to this for upper division courses, or are we stuck relying on counselors and the general catalog?

I'm an econ major, but I want to keep my options open (quantitative economics sounds tempting)

you’re gonna want to do quant. econ you can be an ibanker ;]

my brother’s roommate was a grad student at stanford. studied physics and moved to london. became an ibanker. 400k a year starting.

also, since you’re an econ major you can just go to something like economics.uci.edu or something. i’m assuming they have it there as well. for ucsd, they have outlines for each major in every department.

i.e: [UC San Diego Department of Economics :: Management Science B.S.](http://economics.ucsd.edu/ugrad/ugradMajorMinorReqs/mgmtSciBS.php)

it’s in PDF format. they have it for transfer/freshman etc. check uci’s site

yeah i looked for an assist.org thingy for upper-division and they dont have one.

what i did find is a couple of jobs i want to get after i graduate and for my field in particular (archaeology) they want you to take a specific course load.

so what i am going to do is print out what they want, sit with a counselor (not believe a word the counselor says) and then sit with the catalog and make my own assist.org

oh and check out the graduate programs you are interested in applying to.

check out their requirements and start planning them out.

for one program i have to take two years of chemistry and i found this out my last semester of CC so idk what i am gonna do cuz i really dont want to take it at the UC.
i guess i will take it in the summer at a nearby CC close the the UC that i choose.

Do you mean which courses you need to take at your CC to enroll in a specific upper div at a UC? If so, most pre-reqs you complete at your CC are intended to fulfill the req classes for your upper divs. If you are majoring in econ, most upper divs just require you to take econ 1 + econ 2 and calc courses. If you are looking into more specialized econ courses such as a course on the banking system, then the required courses are usually upper divs at the UC.

Ibanking is overrated. Yes you can make close to a mil a year (or higher), but the 100 hours a week + stress + lack of family life causes a huge burnout rate. Of course you can “retire early”, but people rarely do that.

you’ll have a hard time finding any courses at CCC that will articulate to upper division courses at a UC. The community college system is designed so that you can take your lower division courses there and then finish the upper div courses upon transferring to a UC. You’ll have to wait until you transfer to finish those requirements.

already in at UCI, already have pretty much all the prereqs knocked out.

I was wondering if there was a course listing which would simplify what classes to take. Assist.org pretty much makes it idiot proof. I want something like that. Idiot proof, great for planning… la la la…

This is the best that you’re going to get. Look under “Majors and Specializations” and pick your specialization.
