Retake 2160/2400, 1510/1600 ?

<p>HS class of 2013, aiming high (Olin, Mudd, Caltech, ...)
Good to excellent EC's, GPA, and recommendations.
VERY busy fall (varsity football, IB diploma, ...)
760 Crit. Reading, 750 Math, 650 Writing, 800 Math II, 800 Chem</p>

<p>So, yeah, the 650 writing stands out. </p>

<p>But is a retake necessary? Why or why not? Thanks for any advice.</p>

<p>Well you won’t be very competitive for a school like CalTech with that score. I’d retake it if I were you (especially since it’s only your first one). </p>

<p>Does Caltech superscore the SAT scores?
If so, you should retake it again and focus on writing.</p>
