Title pretty much says it all.
Distribution is 740 CR, 790 M, 770 W.
I know that my score is ballpark for most schools, the thing is that I'm Asian and I feel like I would be less competitive than other Asian applicants for these schools. I definitely feel I could raise my score to at least a 2350.
It's my second sitting btw, I took another SAT sophomore year and got a 2100.

Another alternative is another SAT II? I have 800s in Chem and Math II, and a 720 in USH. I could probably get another 780+ in Physics or Bio M, or I could decide to retake USH.

C’mon man, get ahold of yourself. The difference between a 2300 and a 2350 is what, 1-3 questions? You aren’t going to be rejected because of that. You’ll be rejected because you waste your time retaking something just to get a few more trivial points. There are better things to spend your time and money on; retaking the SAT because you’re unhappy with a 2300 is not one of them.

I don’t know, i dont think 50 points is a big difference (it could be a matter of 1 or 2 questions) and its no guarantee you will do better next time. There is a lot of luck involved.

But if you really want to and money is not an issue then go ahead. Dont just do it, though, because your asian friends are making you feel insecure.

I’m half-Chinese (does that count?) and I got into MIT with a 2070 SAT. Don’t fret about it. Focus on strengthening the other parts of your application.

I say don’t bother retaking it, do more community service. I personally know a girl with a very average 1500 that got into Harvard with a ton of service hours. That is what will make you stand out of the crowd, Asians (no offense) tend to focus too much on scholastic achievements.

well by overwhelming majority I’d say that settles it. I’m sorry if I sounded meticulous or condescending, not what I was going for, lol. Thanks everyone.

@ChrisChick13 - Unless that 1500 is out of 1600, you’re lying. Community service isn’t that important unless its your absolute #1 EC and you have many hundreds or thousands of hours. Even then, its on par with any other EC that someone may be devoted to. Anyway, there’s no way you can get into Harvard if you have a 1500/2400 SAT. The only exception would be if you’re a REALLY good athlete (I’m talking top 100 in the nation for football or something) or your daddy slipped Harvard a cool million…or twenty.

^ Or if you’re a gold medalist at IMO or something. I heard of someone who got into one of those prestigious schools (forgot which) with a 1600/2400 SAT and gold medal at the IMO.

If you’re sitting at 2300 and want to retake the SATs for a 3rd time to get a higher score, aren’t you just proving to the adcoms that you’re striving to be the stereotypical Asian that all the college articles are written about?

In the end, you need to decide what you want to do for yourself.
If it were me, I’d be looking to spend my time for a more fulfilling richer senior year.

@pixels I’m only telling what I was told, if that person lied and I relayed incorrect information, my apologies. I don’t know if it was a 1500/1600 or not, sorry.

She did have a ton of service hours, and did some neat stuff, went to Belize and volunteered there, etc.

Personally she annoys me and she only reminds my parents that I’m not as special as she is.
