My D17 got ACT 32. We are happy with the composite but her math subscore is 23. Should she retake? She is aiming for Barnard College and Scripps College as her reaches.

Yes, because she could increase that math score, just by even being more relaxed the second time around. My D had similar low score on math (23 or 25 something like that) and it went up to 32 the second time. And she is not a math kid. I think she learned how to manage time/mental strength/endurance the next time. It can’t hurt, they are going to take the highest composite, and even if it doesn’t go up, it is nice to show that a low score did get better. Tell her no stress this time, a 32 is great, just take it cause she can, to see what she can do, nothing to lose (except a Saturday morning). Good luck!
@CADREAMIN , Thank you for your reply. Yeah, my D is hesitant to take the second time because, even if she might raise her math score, she doesn’t know if she can keep all the other good subscores. But you are right. They will take the highest composite anyway, so I guess there is nothing to lose.
She should retake it a second time. Some colleges will superscore and for many others she will be able to send the best composite, so it’s a no risk proposition.
