I am currently a high school freshman taking Precalculus H (I tool Algebra 2 H in eighth during zero period, my dad drove me from the high school I am currently attending to my middle school.)

I took the SAT II for Math II last June around the 10th.

Unfortunately for me, I scored only a 730.

I am wondering if I should wait until after I take Calculus BC AP next year, then take it again, or do test prep books during the summer and take the October one.

If I go the test prep book route, can anyone suggest any books that have helped you? For the June test, I did a practice test every other night two weeks prior to the test and ending the night before I took the test.

Thanks in advance!

EDIT: Let me make a correction. I just finished Precal and I'm going to be taking Calc BC this coming September.

I don't understand why you're so stressed. You've got so much freaking time. It doesn't matter when you take your SAT IIs. Take it when you think you'll score better.

I would say study over the summer and take it in June. You don't need any calculus on the test and you did pretty good for just taking practice tests. Not sure which ones you took, but I recommend actually reading the material as well to improve. I like the Princeton Review one for Math II, but a lot of people like Barrons. I took it this past June as well after finished pre-cal as a sophomore and scored a 800.

The thing is, I don't know when I will score better. Either I study over the summer or after I take Calc.

In June, or October? If you really did mean June, I guess study over the summer, and after I learn some Calc material, take it again in June 2009?

I ahve a really good idea. How about you study over the summer as if you were going to take it in October, but wait until you take your Calculus class? Then you know you'll score the best!! But really, you still have a lot of time. Don't stress so much.

Thanks for the reassurance poof. Only thing is, when I take it in June, I'm also taking three AP's in my sophomore year - AP Biology, AP Calculus, and AP World History.

So around the May/June period of 2009, I'll be taking
-AP test for Bio
-AP test for Calc
-AP test for World
-SAT test for Bio
-SAT test for World

And if I take the Math SAT II that time also, I'll have six tests to study for.

^ Not really. AP Bio studying = SAT Bio studying, same thing w/ world.

Definitely take it in the fall. You didn't do too well right after precal and you will forget even more precal after a year of calculus. I recommend using the 5 free sparknotes tests and the 3 released CB. Do all those and you'll be find. They are the most accurate you can get (scored 800 on all of those, got 800).

Yeah - if I were you, I would take Math II again ASAP. I took it after taking AP Calc AB and the Math II SAT II is really unrelated to most of the stuff you'll do in AP Calc - I just wish I'd taken it after Precalc!

the curve question might be hard to answer because not many people retake subject tests and would know first-hand the difficulty & curve of the most recent june and october tests.

the curves supposedly match the difficulty of the exam, so it shouldn't matter which month the exam is taken...

That appears to be a sound argument, but wouldn't the people who take it in October have forgotten some Precal knowledge? (: Sorry, I'm just grasping at straws trying to make myself feel better after I got my 730.
