Retake or no?

I'm a junior with these SATs:

March 2009:
CR 670
M 740
W 720 (10 essay)

October 2009:
CR 670
M 750
W 800 (80, 11 essay)

March 2010
CR 720
M 770
W 710 (75, 8 essay)

So, pretty much my superscore is 2290, with a 1490 CR+M.

I was wondering whether I should prep in the summer and retake the SAT in October.

I'm not going to apply to HYPS, but I do want to get into good schools (with scholarships) and some Ivy's (John Hopkins, UCLA, UPenn, etc.)

I have decent/average EC's, with one really good one.

I know I can definitely get that 800 in Math, and the CR can get higher with prep in summer.

But, is it worth it? Should I spend my summer doing SAT or writing college essays?

Also, is my 800 to 710 decrease in Writing going to look bad to college?

c’mon guys

i think you should just leave it. a lot of good colleges superscore anyways and your 2290 superscore will be enough. spend summer with the essays and fun

but your probably capable of getting 800 math although theres no guarantee and your CR isnt that bad. but if you really know you can get that 800 m and increase cr to high 700’s then it wont hurt.

also this isn’t related to this but i was wondering, whats the latest test date seniors can take sat for colleges to accept the scores? (regular decision). also is october the latest for early decision?

bump

10char

that is great! that’s enough to get you into ivies!

I am a junior and I took my as a soph and got 1730. I need to retake mine. I am hoping for a 2100.

By the way, how did you get that score? Are you a genius? Or do you have good study techniques?

Dude, share the secret! IM me so that I can improve my score! :)

i think you should look on naviance (if your school uses that) and compare your scores to those schools that you want…and also talk to your guidance counselor about it because those are honestly the two best tools

if you think you’re gonna get a 2350-2400 hands down or something i would consider taking it again but if you think it wont be a drastic change i think you could spend your summer more efficiently doing essays

Those are great scores but it would not hurt to take it one more time since you are so close to 2300/1500 level which should really help with getting in and getting very nice merit scholarships. Do your college essays first then study for the SAT.

thanks guys for all the help.

I think I’m gonna take the SATs in October, and the ACTs in September.

If I get a 35 on the ACTs, I’ll just cancel the October SATs.

@woohoo2011…
The only advice is to practice. If you really want that 2100, you gotta work for it.
