Retake SAT? 100 increase in math offset by 70 point in CR and writing

Comparing June 08 to Oct 07 (im an upcoming senior)
Critical Reading 640 (from a 680)
Math 750 (from 650)
Writing 560 (from 590) Essay: 7 for both

total 1950 (from 1920)

I am really upset with this score! even though my math improved by 100 points, my CR and Writing combined for a loss of 70. I didnt expect such a big drop in those 2 categories! I took the SAT the first time in my soph year, so naturally my english skills should have improved or at least stayed the same...
I was aiming for a mid 20. I and hoped that by studying only for math and expecting the other 2 scores to remain close to the Oct 07 score, i'd get that mid 20.
Argh.

Retake it again?
i also need to retake math 2 (670)

cough typical asian

the two SAT's i have taken were also from October and June

like you, i decreased in CR
increased in math
but i increased in W

maybe its just the test?

combined drop of 70 points in two categories is insignficant (AP Statistics). Your superscore will be slightly higher. I would recommend retaking the SAT I as well as SAT II. If you are applying early however, you should probably retake SAT II since you only have one and some schools want 2+. Just keep working and you will improve. Try to do more practice tests. Make sure you can work within the time limit.

You my friend are not the typical asian. A typical asian would've scored 750+ (most likely 800) on the first sitting of the SAT. Moreover the typical asian scores a 2200+. Your scores are by no means unimpressive, but they do not stack up to the typical asian that you incorrectly believe yourself to be.

typical asian means 750+ in all math/science and 700+ in writing and something else in CR.

oh geeez. okay evidently im a "wanabee-typical-asian"
maaannn have to go through all the studying ordeal again and take the test again.

what is this superscore thing?

They take the highest score of each section.

"typical asian means 750+ in all math/science and 700+ in writing and something else in CR."

Maybe on CC, but collegboard says the means for "Asians" are
514/578/513
<a href="http://www.collegeboard.com/prod_downloads/highered/ra/sat/SAT_CR_mathematics_writing_percentile_ranks_gender_ethnic_groups.pdf%5B/url%5D">http://www.collegeboard.com/prod_downloads/highered/ra/sat/SAT_CR_mathematics_writing_percentile_ranks_gender_ethnic_groups.pdf</a></p>

Superscore is when some schools allow you to take the highest subscores over more than one sitting.

^People on CC would find the exact mean asian score. lol :-D

^I've got them bookmarked!
