Retake sat 2 math

Hi, so in the summer, I took the sat II math 2 and got a 690. I was extremely disappointed because I was expecting a 750+. I’m applying to Georgetown msb ea so I was wondering if I should retake it. I’m usually strong in math (I’m in calc bc as a senior; I also took ap stats, ap comp sci a and ap comp sci principles) and got a 35 on the act math. I don’t think I really have the time for it due to my internships, college apps and other ecs but I don’t know whether this score will severly affect my admission.

Georgetown asks for three SAT Subject tests, doesn’t it? Your ACT Math score is great! Your Math II Subject test is extremely low. With some prep you should be able to get it up to 750. If you don’t want to re-take it, then choose another test which will showcase another academic aptitude.

The only other tests I have are aps. Since I am eaing I thought that the three tests were not required…
If anyone has any suggestions on other tests I could take I would appreciate it.

I remember that application - it was a bear! According to their website, under the heading “Early Application” it states, “Scores from SAT Subject Tests should be included if available.”

So I mean what should I do?

Take the October Subject tests? You can also call the Georgetown admissions office and ask if its necessary to submit the tests. Or post your question on the Georgetown thread and see what answers you get. But your college counsellor should be able to advise you about this decision. I don’t know how strong the rest of your application is, but if your ACT score is 35 or 36, maybe the subject test requirement will be waived.

Ok I appreciate it thanks dude.

Definitely take the math 2 again with a 690 (and study for it) if you want any kind of STEM major…690 is only 53%tile because only people who are good at math take that test.

I’m not a stem major, I will be doing business

So I was just confused whether to take it again because I will not submit sat 2 for any other school than Georgetown

Georgetown tells applicants that they should submit THREE SAT SUBJECT TEST RESULTS. Everyone who applies to Georgetown knows this. It is completely up to every applicant to decide how strong their application is with only some or even none of the subject test results. But why would anyone who wants to gain admission not follow this school’s application instructions?

This exchange should be moved to the “Georgetown” thread. Best of luck!

For anyone who needs the answer to this question, the information is available on Georgetown’s Admissions Website :

Georgetown maintains a holistic review process with a focus on success in your high school curriculum as the foundation of a competitive application. Please plan on taking either the SAT or ACT and three SAT Subject Tests for submission with your application.

Georgetown University does not participate in the Score Choice option available through the College Board. Georgetown requires that you submit scores from all test sittings of the SAT, ACT, and SAT Subject Tests. Georgetown evaluates thousands of competitive applicants each year for admission; access to your full testing profile enables the admissions committee to fully and fairly assess your individual strengths in comparison to the entire applicant pool.

SAT - Georgetown’s SAT code is 5244. Georgetown only considers the critical reading and math portions of the SAT, not the writing section. If an applicant takes the SAT more than once, the admissions committees will consider the highest critical reading score and the highest math score from multiple test sessions when reviewing the application.
ACT - Georgetown’s ACT code is 0668. Georgetown accepts the ACT in lieu of the SAT. Applicants who take the ACT more than once will have their highest composite score considered in the evaluation process. The optional writing section on the ACT is not required, nor is the writing subscore used in the application review process.
SAT Subject Tests - It is strongly recommended that all candidates, whether they have taken the SAT Reasoning Test or the ACT, submit three SAT Subject Tests scores. The scores from writing portion on the SAT Reasoning Test and the optional writing portion of the ACT will not be used in place of a Subject Test.
*Notice to Early Action Applicants:
Given the Early Action deadline of November 1, the Committee on Admissions recognizes that applicants may not be able to meet the SAT Subject Test requirements. Those candidates are welcome to submit an Early Action application, and the application will be considered complete and reviewed in its entirety. Candidates applying under the Early Action plan who have not yet taken three Subject Tests should still register to take the tests in the event they are deferred from Early Action to Regular Decision. If there are extenuating circumstances which prevent an applicant from submitting three SAT Subject Test scores, the applicant should provide a written explanation to the Committee on Admissions to be included with the application
