Retake SAT or SATii?

I am planning on applying to Brown ED so I only really have october to change my stats. I've taken the SAT twice (2000, 2170) and three subject tests (mathii 680, us760, chem680). I am now debating whether to retake the SAT or the math iic subject test. My SAT is below the median of SAT scores admitted to Brown, but I'm pretty sure that my math is even lower. I plan on majoring in international relations, so I'm not sure if it will matter that much.

Should I be focusing on the SAT or Mathiic test? Any and all help is thoroughly appreciated and I send you alpacas instead of thank you cards ;)

depends on your gpa

gpa is 4.0 uw, 4.73 w

I don't know too much about Brown's ED procedure but I say focus on the requirement. If they specify SAT to be certain number, get that taken care of. Also, if they simply require SAT IIs, don't worry too much about it since you are not going to major in math.

Low SAT score can hurt you because it gives a reason for admission office to reject you. I had a friend who graduated with me this year who was at first denied acceptance from Bucknell because of SAT score but got accepted once she changed her major to undecided.

SAT is a pain but just get your score up (it's easier said than done but it's possible) so you don't have to worry about admission office saying, "We're sorry but your SAT score just is too low.."

Of course, some kids do get into these schools without fulfilling SAT requirement but my point is that if you fulfill them, it will not hurt you.

My personal opinion is that you should spend more time on your SATs and bring it upto the 2200 line atleast...colleges (especially Brown) might more likely look at your SAT scores first and then your subject tests.

I have the same exact problem fruitsarebad. i got a 2180 my second time taking the SAT, and i got a 700 math II. i was going to retake the math II in october b/c that is my best subject and i dont think a 700 will look that good, and maybe retake SAT in november in case i get deferred early decision, so that i can then send in my new SAT scores for regular decision. Also what about the ACT? shouldnt a 2170 or a 2180 be good enough if you do well on the ACT, or is it really not considered as much as colleges say?

Brown's ED program allows you to submit the results of the November tests, so this isn't really an issue at all -- you can do both if you'd like.

thanks guys! I will probably take the SAT then and hope that the math will hide behind a hopefully higher sat score. any more suggestions are still very very welcome
