I got a 2250 on the October test.
Math: 770
Verbal: 750
Writing: 730 (pretty low don't know what happened, most likely essay)
This is my first time taking it so I guess that still leaves room for 2 more if I choose to. If im shooting for ivys, do you think I should retake it? maybe shoot for 2300 (my original goal). I am also an almost recruitable athlete so that should really help my chances especially if the coach recruits me. Im wondering if I should retake this SAT or concentrate maybe on SAT II's. I've only done the Math SAT II and got an 800. Thanks for any input.

officers will ask you why you retook it even with all 700+s and a 2250. I don't suggest retaking it.

Your "pretty low" 730 in writing is an OK score. Retaking a 2250 probably won't help you.

Also you don't say if you're a senior or a junior, but if you're a senior and want to apply to Ivies you have to take two more SAT IIs, so make sure to plan that in your schedule since you can only take one (SATI or SATII) per month.

I took it first in May and then again in Oct. Somehow I got a 100 pts lower in Oct. It's sort of strange because in May I got a 9 on the essay and a 770, and in Oct I got an 11 on the essay but then I must have really screwed up the MC (compared to my last time) because I got a 730. In math I got 60 pts less even though I was much better prepared this time. Oh well. I'm sort of wondering even if I misgridded or something but I probably just pysched myself out. It doesn't matter that much because my May scores were fine, I just could have gone about 30 pts higher in Math. Don't think I'll take them again because I'll end up 100 pts lower in math or something at this rate...

Im a junior and I plan to take History and Bio. Thanks for the replies guys.

any other opinions?
