<p>well, i was unfortunately rejected from cornell ed, which frightens me now because my second choice (NU) is just as hard - if not harder - and i am not doing ed nor do i have a legacy.</p>
<p>so i was considering retaking the SAT in january, rather than the ACT because they offer it later and i cannot combine scores. Should i retake it to try to help my chances? it seems to be my weakest link.</p>

<p>my plan is to mainly focus on math, because i'm fairly certain i can get 700+ it is just in the past i have focused on critical reading (and failed), especially since i'm applying for engineering. btw, it is my 4th time taking it :/ if that means anything</p>
<p>mike, unfortunately, a 1260 is not really competitive for Cornell or NU</p>
<p>for NU, it is around 60 pts below the 25th percentile, ur chances do not bode well</p>
<p>i suggest as of now, you MUST retake your sats A.S.A.P, b/c if you do not, i would say you have less than a 5-10 percent chance of getting in, there are kids with 1450+ SAT scores that get rejected routinely</p>
<p>yea, my act was at the 25% for cornell - i just had great ec's, legacy, and ed on my side. </p>
<p>as far as retaking, would jan. be too late even if i indicate i am going to take it?
i doubt i won't increase because the last 2 times i have increased more than 100 points (yea, i suck at standardized tests)</p>
<p>after contacting the undergrad admissions, they said they would take them but cannot guarantee they will get them before my app is reviewed. so what does this mean, like they review apps alphabetically? or by when they are completed?</p>

but how good would my chances be with a 1350/1600 over a 1260... with good recs/essays, 4.1 w gpa and great ec's? </p>
