I'm a rising senior this year and I'm looking into applying to Stern ED1.
My gpa is on the lower side (~90 uw, ~95 w) as is my 2130 on the SAT (740 CR 700 M 690 W).
As of right now I have no SAT II scores that I would be willing to send in to colleges.
NYU's early decision application deadline is November 1st, meaning that I have two potential SAT or SAT II test dates left, October and November. The November scores will obviously be submitted after I have submitted the rest of my application. I was looking into taking the US History and the Math 2 SAT II's in order to boost my chances of getting in.

Should I focus on the SAT or the SAT II's? Are scores sent in November given less weight than those taken before the application deadline?

I would recommend taking the SAT II’s. I’m a rising sophomore in Stern, and I took the SAT II Math level 2 - the curve on it is really high so it’s not that hard to get a perfect score, in fact an 800 is only the 88th percentile! Try taking it in October as it’s earlier and lets you take it again or something else in case you did not do as well as planned.

Retake SAT 1 and do SAT2 math. Stern mostly cares about the CR/Math breakdown, but the SAT2 math is impressive. I did both. Your SAT1 score, especially in CR/Math, could increase. Don’t be worried about superscoring. I took the SAT1 around 5 times, got some pretty bad scores, but my eventual combined score must have been the only one that Stern looked at because I got in.

Since you only have two opportunities to test, make the most of them. Go back to the basics and take an SAT course in September if you have to. People will say that Kaplan sucks and they’re mostly right. But somehow, even though the instruction was aimed at the lowest scoring people in the group (1300/2100), I learned a few useful tricks that helped me get a score that Stern apparently respected. Taking a book’s worth of kaplan-provided practice tests didn’t hurt either.

Also if you can take two tests on the same day, that would open you up to take SAT2 math and SAT 1 in October, then retake whichever test you want in November. I’m pretty sure that you have that opportunity sometimes. You might want to check.

nope, you can only take either 3 SAT 2’s in one day or the SAT 1.
