Retaking Tests AFTER You've applied?

Good day to all, I just have a question that's been bugging me for the last couple of weeks. I have applied to multiple colleges, including my first choice ED at Hamilton; however a couple of my friends have suggested retaking the ACT and SAT IIs. It's not like I did bad on either; I got a 30 on my ACT and a 790 on my US History SAT II (I plan to major in history). I also did get a 680 on Biology as a freshman but never retook it. That said, my cousin got in at Tufts off the wait list after retaking his SATs and doing better, among other things. Granted, that was a long time ago, but some of my friends are thinking about doing it. If I don't get into Hamilton, I am considering taking the ACT again. My question is should I? It is worth it?

Thanks in advance.

A single data point and one can’t tell whether it was the better SAT, the ‘other things’ or a combination that got him in. Also, you are only seeing the positive data point, you never hear about the people that retook tests and weren’t admitted.

Will you have substantial time to do additional prep? If not, you could just as easily get a lower score.
