My SAT is a 2080 superscored. I've taken it 2x (3 if you include the PSAT) and my score has stayed approx the same but I haven't studied much either. However, today I found out today that I got a 34 on my first ACT (I'm so surprised! I hadn't even read a single ACT question... my GC told me to take it like 3 days before the test, hence I just got my scores today due to taking the test on standby). As for SAT IIs, I have a 790 Math II, 780 Bio M and 760 Chem. Should I retake the SAT since my SAT IIs are good and some schools don't allow score choice? OR should I just send my ACT to those schools, or send both tests anyway?

BTWW MIT is probably my top choice, Brown second, and most likely Tufts third (I know... random but I just loved the small, but not too small, school atmosphere and everything was so, idk, "warm" haha).

If it’s ACT+Writing, definitely use that one. However, if you’re not going to submit your SAT anyway, you might as well give it another try if you think you can do better, as you probably want to get 2200+ for MIT and Ivies. You may suffer from Tufts’ Syndrome if you send that ACT :-P

I guess the better question is… do I need to submit my SAT? I know schools SAY they don’t prefer either but there’s an unwritten rumor that schools have a preference for the SAT.

OMG I’m really good enough to suffer from Tufts syndrome? YESS. Though I’d pick Tufts in a heartbeat over some of the Ivies like Cornell and possibly Penn (I’m not a big school person :P).

This is what motivated me to take the SAT thrice, even after I had a 35 ACT. However, it paid off as the last time I took it I got a 2330, so you never know. Most of those schools you’re talking about allow score choice so it wouldn’t look obsessive to take it 3 times, since they can’t see that you did.

I almost want the SAT to mean more because I went through 12 grueling hours to get it :-P, but you should be fine as far as standardized testing goes. Go for the SAT if you’re really that worried.
