I'm returning to Penn this weekend for a second visit, having gone last fall during my Junior year. I'll be sitting in on the information session again and taking the tour again, but I was wondering what else I should try to see that's not normally part of the tour.

Any buildings that I should see, certain dining halls, special libraries, etc., that are not normally part of the tour?

Where do most students hang out on a Saturday morning/early afternoon? Am I allowed to eat in one of the dining halls with my parents?

I'm hoping to sit in on a classroom at another time, but I'm hoping to "soak in" as much as possible during my return visit. Any suggestions from current Penn students would be greatly appreciated.

The residence halls are not normally part of the tour. Is there any way to see the common areas of some of the residence halls, or do you need a special key/card just to enter?

Thanks!

buildings to see? uh, maybe fisher fine arts library?

we usually are in bed on a saturday morning =)

you may eat in a dining hall if you pay for it...

in order to enter the residence halls, you need your tour to take you in, or get a current resident of that building to sign you in - or, beg the security guards (like at quad)

hang out around the bookstore, see the new radian bldg at 39th and walnut, wander around huntsman/engineering buildings/nursing building if they're relevant, walk around rittenhouse square downtown

If you're going to a dining hall, King's Court seems to be the nicest...1920s Commons is just crazy around meal time (or it has been lately anyway; I haven't exactly been here that long :P)

You can see the lobby area of the high rises w/o any special entrance or whatever (but it's nothing special...)

Definitely get into the Quad if you can, and walk through its various greens and courtyards (including in the far upper and lower portions)--it really is something special.
