i’m planning on visiting penn’s campus this friday (most likely). any heads up on things to look for and things to ask about? how are the tours and info sessions anyway?

Basically the main thing you should be looking at is how you feel on campus. Ask yourself if you can see yourself waking up on this campus every morning, walking along these paths to class, and being glad to be there every minute of it. I knew very little about Penn when I went there for my tour/info session, but it was the only school where, when I walked around, I felt like I was home.

As for info sessions and tours... well I'm a tour guide, and it's very frustrating when we don't get any questions. No question is a stupid one, if something pops into your head, please ask. Often the questions that mean the most to the prospective STUDENTS are things about day to day life at Penn, which the tour guides try to provide. HOWEVER, the university creates the tours to cater somewhat more to parents and such, centering much more on safety, academic programs, etc. While these are all important things to discuss, they probably aren't what the student will base their decision on. Don't let the few safety-paranoid moms dominate your tour.. speak up, ask away!!!! (btw, safety is quite good on campus!)

LOL. When I went no one asked questions and the tour guide was like "Any questions? No? sad look" at each stop.

hahah they were like that at every college tour!! aww.

Look to see if you like an urban campus. Enjoy your visit and I hope you don't listen to the crime questions....and get freaked out.

Sit on Ben's lap! Walk over the compass! And get cozy under the button! :p

Wow what a guy.......get cosy.......this poor Frosh probably has no idea that you are making her an offer you devil you~~

No no... don't sit on Ben's lap.....

I feel so bad for all the people who always do that... they don't know what all the drunken kids do everynight to that poor statue...

fluffhead, as you said, no question is a stupid one!!! Amen to that. i have a couple of questions:

1) I am going to Penn on Wednesday for the second time. I am an INCOMING transfer...any advice to what I should look out for
2) What do they talk about at the Info session? Mostly for whom: parents, students, both?

I was hoping the :p at the end would show the sarcasm involved, joking about the things not to do.

And I don't mean cozy with me by any stretch of the imagination!

When I went a couple of months ago, the only people walking with the tour-guide were the parents. Their kids were "too cool" to be seen on campus with their mom and dad...lol. It was a funny sight to see!

thinkjose- I was probably your tourguide. No one ever asks me questions. So instead I tell them inane stories. BWAHAHAHAHAHA.

i wanna be a tour guide!
