Reviewed-Decision Pending???

Thanks for the response @upapilot . I put down my deposit for Macalester now so I’ll have left to do now is wait and see. If I was going to call admissions at McGill what do you think I should say when asking about the wait listing and if there’s anything I can do?
Thanks again

@img498 I don’t think there’s much you can do about the waiting-list. Wait-lists are inherently unpredictable. The most you can do is contact/mail McGill to reiterate your interest and enthusiasm for the university and hope for the best! :)

@upapilot‌ do you know how likely it is to make it into McGill off the waitlist? Or the number of waitlisted ppl that get in out of those waitlisted? Also how do you think my numbers compare to others who might be waitlisted? Thanks for the info!

@img498 Hmm… Can’t seem to find the wait-list statistics… Sorry…

If it helps anyone, I was just accepted off the waitlist. My strategy was as follows.

1.) Call weekly asking for an update on the waitlist situation. Always be polite and courteous to the person on the other end of the line. Be sure to give them your McGill ID number and ask that they record your interest in your file.

2.) Write a letter that states why you wish to come to McGill. Mention all the things you didn’t get the chance to on your application ( Extracurriculars, jobs, awards, ect.) Send it to multiple email adresses, chances are you will not get a response but it is almost certain they will place it in your file.

3.) Get a letter of recommendation (or 2 if you’re extra desperate to eat poutine like myself). Send it with the letter you wrote yourself. I was lucky and just so happened to have a family doctor who went to McGill for undergrad, postgrad, medschool, ect and is very well known in alumni circles. If you have anyone at all who is an alumni or gives money to the school, beg them for a letter.

4.) Pray. Always helps.

5.) Sit back and feel content that you’ve done all that you can to gain admissions.

I wish the rest of you luck and hope you’ll become my future classmates.

@wolfman123 Thanks! I just got in off the waitlist to McGill B of Arts this morning!!! Seems like I won’t be needing those steps haha. So now I’m back where I started in the first place! Macalester v. McGill…

im still waiting to hear back off the waitlist from b arts/science and desautels. McGill said they would start giving decisions out May 15…has anyone heard back??

Hey guys, it is now mid may and my status is still reviewed-decision pending . it’s weird because my marks are way above the admission requirements for the engineering course. does anyone still has this status. is there a chance that i can get excepted??? :S
