i got in !!! gonna be the first or either one of the first to graduate from my high school and go to rice !!
Must’ve been extra competitive this year, I guess
Awesome arabphrodite! Congrats! I hope you have fun and have great years there
Congrats to those who got in!
To those who didn’t: you’re probably going to hear a lot of “where you get in to college doesn’t define you,” which is true, but it’s completely fine and normal to be sad/disappointed/upset/wrecked. It can be hard to work through rejection, but it is possible and there’s a light at the end of the tunnel–you’re just in the darkest part right now. Stay strong and best of luck with RD!
Agreed! Let yourself feel whatever you feel and then when you’re ready, pick yourself up and move on. Those of us who have been through it, or have kids who have, know how much the process stinks but we all mean it when we say it does all work out in the end!
thank you arallia!!!
DD20 got deferred with 6.5% rank but with perfect SAT and NMSF for CS, and one classmate got rejected with 3% for Biology.
I had to check later because of work and didn’t get in either.
Rejected
deferred
Someone on reddit reported the letter that came out said, "“Although the number of applicants is more than 20 times greater than the number of available spaces, the university remains committed to maintaining its small size.”
That sounds like application numbers were WAY up. Will be interesting to see when Rice releases the numbers - usually in a few days.
Will they release the ED acceptance rate?
The middle of mine said:
“ We want you to know that this result is a function of the limited number of available spaces relative to a very large applicant pool and does not necessarily reflect any weakness or deficiency in your application.
The competition for admission to Rice has grown considerably in recent years. Although the number of applicants is more than 20 times greater than the number of available spaces, the university remains committed to maintaining its small size. It is unfortunate that we are not able to offer admission to more students from our very talented applicant pool.”
mine doesn’t say that
@user_464093––were u deferred?
No I was rejected
wish it was a deferred
Congratulations on yours though
SO sorry for those of you who were rejected, but you will blossom wherever you are planted. Those deferred, hang in there and send them any updated info (grades, honors/awards, etc) you can to enrich your application. To those who got in, CONGRATS!
Ah, so I wonder if they mean in general the number of applicants is more than 20 times the number of spaces and not the number of ED applicants this time around? That would make a lot more sense when you look at the numbers who applied last year.
