I got in!!! Will post stats later!!!

I’ll be the first to say I didn’t get in. )=

Not posting in the ‘official ED results thread’ and this’ll be our last post in anything Rice related. Son didn’t get in. (school of Architecture). He told me e-mail stated number of applicants was 16x the number of available spots, I don’t know if that’s for university as a whole or architecture school specifically. It was kind of a long shot for us anyway, he had 2080 SAT, 32 ACT, 4.08 GPA, captain of ‘mock trial’ team couple years, choirs, started a creative writing club at his school, has a 20 hour a week job (we’re not rich).
Good news for us, he was accepted (and now will attend) Univ. of Kansas, 5 year M.Arch program along with a sweet scholarship offer. School is rated #1 architecture school in the Midwest (we’re in Minnesota). So you can’t always get what you want, but sometimes you get what you need…
My only beef with Rice–if they want to be like the Ivies, why is student body 45%+ from Texas? Harvard doesn’t take mostly Massachusetts students, Cornell doesn’t take most from NY, Stanford not mostly Californians. Just saying…good luck to all.

I didn’t get in either.

There is a charter requiring a certain percent come from Texas.
